Sort of. Since the colm over king can't get people to sell him the land he wants he's trying to bully the council into compulsory purchase of their property. I can't believe the cooncil even gave him time of day on this...

I think the Trump development will be great for the WHOLE of Aberdeenshire.
This is a Billion $ development that will create 400 PERMANENT jobs, never mind the thousands of construction jobs needed to build the thing.
Anyone notice on the news about construction workers losing their jobs left, right and centre.

How would it be if a couple of folk wouldn't move out the area earmarked for the olympics. Would we cancel it. No.

Compulsory purchase orders can only be applied with the approval of open council. That makes it democratic. We have to act in the best interests of the majority.

It's all well and good wanting to protect the view from your back garden - but you can't eat a view !

Ask any of the boys on here currently out of work, if they would like a job on the development. I think you have your answer.

The rich git that was originally turned down then bullied the council and the Scottich Exec into giving him what he wanted.

And that rich person could bully what is supposed to be a democratic body that as a Fit Liker you probably voted to represent you?

Angus; the petition is not against the development but the possible use of compulsory purchase of properties that are now deemed to be required for the project.

400 permanent jobs, how many of those will go to locals........not many (foreigners are cheaper) as they will be mostly staff for the hotel, I believe.

Construction, you think a job this size will use local companies, possibly a few, but I suspect major construction companies from elsewhere in the UK or even abroad will be used.

I feel the plan is good for the North East but it's not being managed very well which is creating alot of bad feeling.
 
You have to wonder how many of the 400 permanent jobs would be filled by local Scots and not immos from eastern Europe or even further afield?

I think the only jobs that would be guaranteed to go to locals would be any Fitters jobs...

Personally I think it will be good for the area, yes 4 people are refusing to move but have been offered good deals on their properties - I know its harsh to force someone to move out but there's a lot more being affected by roads across the country.

The money being used to fight against the development by the council and other organisations would surely be better spent on other things such as schooling, infrastructure, health etc. He's going to get his way in the end but why not save the millions that's being spent to fight it and put various reports etc together.

I think it will be good for the area although if he was to be building a racing circuit that would be even better!
 
Just along the road at East Aberdeenshire are almost on the ropes, My mate played Cruden bay last week it was very quiet there too.

What I dont unerstand having worked in Balmedie for many years is how they find their ball during the Harr season May, June, July, August.

The £200 claimed from the lad whose bike went on fire over in Turriff will go along way to improving the road network!!! Crossing Aberdeen is a joke now!!!
Living only 7 miles away for Trump and 13 miles from Aberdeen there is no Sunday bus service.

Basically what I am saying here is all these years Aberdeen could have made something being the oil capital of Europe the councils have been p***ed it away.
Yes it is nice the thought that somebody would want to invest in the shire but dissappointed it is with CPO.

That's all very well and good, but they've been talking about a bypass for the
last 20+ years. Maybe they should get their priorities right (and no it isn't another golf course)
 
Now just hang on a minute.

We are not talking about building some much-needed part of the 'infrastructure'. It is not a new road, a hospital, a rail link or some facility that will benefit the whole of the community.
We are talking about a property developer who is out to line his own pockets. Nothing more. The jobs (never as many as developers initially state) will be low-paid and ignored by the majority of locals.

It was very telling that the local council couldn't wait to howl down one their own for daring not to jump when Mr Trump waved his wallet. Trump has even used the line that he 'doen't have to do this' - implying that he is wealthy enough not to have to build any more developments to make a profit - and that any dissention from his plans will result in him walking away. Absolute rubbish, he's not doing this out of any fondness for the area - it's out of fondness for extending his empire.
He'll not walk away if he doesn't get the extra land that he suddenly 'needs', he's out to wring everything he can out of this as he knows there's always gutless muppets in local government who can't wait to get their snout in the trough of Big Ideas.
The council could Kick trump half way round the County and he'll still build...they've been hopelessly outclassed in negotiations and proved what a bunch of pointless amateurs they are when it comes to dealing with serious players. Thy'd be better off sticking to turning down planning applications for extensions on houses...much more their level.

There's been references to the Clearances made during this sordid episode, and rightly so. The scale of human expulsion and bullying is nowhere near as vast - but it's nice to know that there are always those willing to grovel at the feet of big developers....sorry, 'benefactors' at the expense of their own kinsmen.

mr klanky sur if n ad sat fur an hour or so i could not have articulated that view so well, i often think that the british public have a complete loss of perspective when it comes to governance and policies with common sense and the common good in mind i personally know another developer (big noise noo but came fae fec all) that has a decent bit concience aboot whit he does n he wis at a meeting wi this trump guy and described him to me as a complete fecking chancer!!!!!!!!!1
