INSURANCE FOR PCP BIKE

Carole nash just got back to me via Twitter after my earlier contact with them this morning confirming they cover pcp vehicles and will be training the newer members of the teams to avoid this happening again 🤔

Victor,
They do ! :thumb2
My point was that when I inquired about PCP cover the woman didn't know what it was. But simply stated we dont care how you financed your machine, as long as you are on the logbook as the registered keeper.
What a shower of shit these companies are.

Son who works for large insurance company in edinburgh, think scottish😉 spoke to underwriters on this.

They advised, if you have a financial interest in the vehicle and are registered keeper there is no problem.

It is when there is no financial interest that the issue arises, if you have no interest then they cannot pay you any monies on settlement.

Which sort of makes sense.

Other not so nice point was that you have now been technically refused insurance and are required to disclose this to any future insurer.

That is a bit worrying as you are probably right as insurance has been refused.

E-mailed Carole Nash about wether they would insure a bike bought via either PCP or HP and this is their reply:

"Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately we do not offer insurance on a vehicle where the individual is the registered keeper but not the owner of the bike.

We are only able to provide insurance cover where the vehicle is both owned and registered to the individual.
"

I think we need to use social media and the motorcycle press to get these companies to think sensibly!

Im sure Carol Nash will fall in line and realise their mistake as Bennets have.
When insuring this morning with BMW i did ask if i had to declare id been refused insurance now, she said no. and put no on the quote.

Important to note you have not been refused insurance they chose not to insure the bike you wanted to insure, the two are quite different.

Proper shower of shit!

It is the usual, once you actually get through to somebody with ounce of common sense it can be resolved quite easily.

If you've lodge formal complaint, also complain to fca otherwise this bollocks will be trotted out by most insurer's to the detriment of other's.

Be interesting to contact the actual insurance company involved and NOT the broker to see what they say on the matter

I think all insurance companies are chancers really, how much confidence have you in your insurance company? That they won't try and wriggle out of paying out in the unfortunate situation that you need to make a claim? You pay your money, get your certificate because the law says you have to and hope that if you have to use it they will pay out. Or am I being cynical? Look how many companies named in this thread alone don't even know themselves if they cover a pcp financed bike and they are the experts..

i agree. it's all a giant ripoff.

pay the absolute minimum to be legal, ride safe, wear hi-viz, and alway lock your bike. that's all i've done for 20 years

I've a bike on PCP insured through Carol Nash!!

and interestingly I've just "actually" read the policy document (It's a multibike policy and other bikes are owned outright) and the Owned box is ticked!!

Suppose I had better speak to them!!

Just had this definitive reply from carole nash .

Thanks for your patience on this.

I got on to our product support manager about this immediately this morning. I’ve managed to get definitive clarification on the matter. We have no issues offering quotes to customers who have purchased their bikes via PCP. I have also been told we can list the purchaser as the registered owner and keeper of the vehicle, rather than the leaser.

Now this has been brought to our attention I have raised the incident to be acknowledged across the business. This is clearly something that everyone needs clarification on and we can now tackle.

I managed to find the thread you mentioned too and have shared this with management. Hopefully we can set up an account with the forum to try and share this information with the other participants of the conversation.

I really would like to thank you again for bringing this to our attention. As a high number of bikers use PCP to purchase their vehicles, I’m glad we are now able to clear up any confusion and offer all bikers the correct products from Carole Nash.

Kindest Regards,

Rosanna.
