Insurance- Green Card and travel insurance for Morocco list

I forgot to say !

Bike Insurance - Aviva via Devitt - Green Card issued for Morocco no probs £30 for 16 days

Travel insurance - my annual European policy with Aviva includes Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria automatically.

European Breakdown - my Vehicle rescue Direct (Axa) policy does NOT include Morocco but at £32 for 16 days cover compared to £116 from the AA with member's discount it's good value and when put to the test (refusal to re-start after a fuel stop) the bike was on the lorry within about 45 minutes from first call (when we unloaded it at the BMW dealers in Alicante it fired up first go !!!!)

John Gudgeon

My bike is 14 years old and shows 76K miles. Axa cover vehicles up to 15 years - ooer ! - what shall I do in 2012 ?

Bike Insurance

Just phoned my bike insurer to renew my policy and asked the question regarding riding abroad, I was told european cover no problem but Morocco, no can do! Any advice?

Thanks :thumb2

Just seen the sticky post at the top  Still any advice would be cool

Use Carol Nash and ask for a Groupama policy. For me it was about £160 for two bikes a Harley and an ER6. Groupama include Morocco as standard at no extra cost and the green card is free.

insurance for morocco??

just spoke to my insurer (honda insurance) for additional cover for morocco and they told me they do not cover morocco because its not in the eu, they said i need to get cover from the border? is this normal? can anybody whose been to morocco help me out on this? im going next friday!!

A few UK companies will cover Maroc but not many.

Yes, it's quite ok to buy at the border - there will be a booth selling motor insurance (at Tanger) for selected periods of time, can't remember how much it cost now but it ain't tooooo bad.

Andres

Edit: Have you checked the Maroc section on here - loads of useful info in the 'Knowledge Base'?

Grouprama , through carol nash. Free morocco insurance cover. Search the travel section, morocco forum.

It's not a limited destination for only 1200GS's ????

Last time I went, I had insurance with carole nash, however they still robbed me at the border for their own insurance, saying they can only accept a green card and my insurance cert was not green:blast therefore I would have to buy it from them if I wanted in.

Insurance

I am unable to get my current insurer to issue a green card for Morocco.
Can anyone advise as to the ease to organise the insurance when you arrive in morocco?
Speak virtually no french so any info advise would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

Geoff

If you go via Tangier Med; it is painless.

Once you pass through customs, there are some portacabins [or similar] on your left

In one you can get some money changed, next door you can get your insurance [third party only]

Hope this helps

latest insurance advice please..

latest insurance advice please!!!

As many will know BMW insurance wont cover Morocco even with a premium..

I know it sounds painless to buy at the border but id rather have sorted beforehand if possible. Is there a quick and easy solution to get 2 weeks cover in August? Will any Insurers do this, the three ive been onto for about 2 bloody hours listening to piped music wont!!

Thanks Neil

If your current insurer won't give you a green card then it could cost you a lot of money to cancel your policy and find another insurer that will. Border insurance is the cheaper option but it doesn't cover your losses, it only covers third party liability. I am with Groupama, via Carole Nash and it cost me about £70 for a green card last month. The previous two times I was in Morocco, I didn't bother with insurance at all. Your decision at the end of the day. :aidan

I went Algeciras/Tangier Med and they weren't interested in my insurance, I think you can buy it in the terminal building after you've cleared police and customs, probably 60-70 Euros for 10 days.
