I'm considering putting on a event/rally for 1200 owners. A bit like the Gentlemans Wee-kend, but without the posh location, old farts, and smell.

It would be a general get together, camp, ride, and drinking affair.

Aimed at 1200 owners, but welcoming all-comers as we're not an excluding bunch:beerjug:

Likely to be 1st Saturday in August somewhere in the South Midlands/North Cotswolds. Usual format - Friday:beer:, Saturday :GS, Sunday home.

If there is sufficient interest......

An all in bed by ten, all ride outs sponsored by the AA sort of event?
Will there be secure parking for the breakdown trucks?

I didn't realise you'd had so many issues with your 1200????

:nenau

Must be down to poor ownership:augie

:D

Seriously..........why?

I can understand the Airhead weekend becuase it was a workshop and tinkering session, but what is going to be specific to 1200's during this weekend:nenau

..................and I am biting my tongue with suggestions for relevant subjects on 1200 ownership :D

Don't mock it's rude:)

Will it be open only to accountants, internet technophiles or people with jobs in the city that have new or unused tents over £300:hide

Who wants to do all that workshop tinkering nonsense anyway? - like durrrrrrr that's what one employs mechanics for - perhaps the 1200 owners could actually ride their bikes.

Perhaps there should be some awards, you know the type.
Who has got the most shiny exhaust pipe or the most powerful head light?
Beats the usual who travelled the furthest

My i suggest a "Best mounting of a Tool Tube" award
followed by "Hottest H.I.D.s" and the "I've more TT than you" awards

Maybe a talk or two on some interesting like "This is what a tool kit looks like" , "Cleaning products of the rich and famous", " what shocks should the urban warrior use"and the all important "what would Ewan do"

I reckon an award should be given for the most stickered alloy panniers

Can't see the point of subsection GS gatherings...................adds nothing and detracts everything

Would the be any mileage in organising an 1100/1150 weekend where no fecker else is welcome?

As it happens August is quiet for us chartered merchant telephone engineers, so I'm in.

:beerjug:

PS: Will there be stickers, T-shirts and a raffle?

...or Sainsbury's....

1200's

Seems to be a fair bit of mockery about the idea?! Can't work out why, or is there a fear of outsiders? I guess if there's a chance of "1200" owners rocking up just for a lark, without the tedium of having to compare kit, lights, tents, shocks, seats and the rest of the guff that we can bolt on, then I'll pencil it in. I only know a handful of GS owners, and have always found them to be very social. I'll dig out my £300 tent!
