Interesting ORS Review

But it's so much fun in here, just had a riveting 3 page read about alarm fobs:comfort

I reckon 7 pages minimum before they finish:D
Well, we already have 5 riveting pages on how bad the new GS is. I reckon we will get to at least 12 before they finish.

Another thing stands out: the LC naysayers who peremptorily declare that the new GS IS this or IS NOT that have no experience whatsoever of even putting their arses on the saddle for a minute. :type

Ah!......... but they all have 1150's, seems to be a common denominator :blast

Old, senile, dinosaur, smell of piss...............other common denominators:D

Looking at the thread 'age of WB riders' - We're younger & riding 1150's

Maybe the WB riders are trying to be hip & trendy whilst sliding into middle age :)

Whereas we're able to appreciate & know our bikes & have no need to prove anything

Park a new WB & a nice PD 80 G/S up and guess which bike will attract most conversation

I think you're wrong. I don't think anyone has said it's bad, the crux us that it is possibly poorly designed and too fragile/vulnerable as a big trail bike.

So, a bunch of German marketing men and engineers get together with an objective of how can ve make more money.

Ve make it faster and lighter say the engineers, ve convince zem it's better say the marketing men.

Fat, middle aged men fall for it, even taking the credit for their purchase.

Ha, zat vurked say ze engineers and marketing men. :Motomartin

I never realised you could speak german Tim, can you translate for me:D

Great thread, we seem to have a lot of old school naysayers with nothing better to do than pitch up in the new section with erstwhile stories that start "during the war" and then slag of the youngsters (average age about 50 it seems).

LC off road?

pah! fecking lightweight!

40 actually and I've had BMs since I was 30 :blast

Nobody is slagging it off, merely pointing out the change in direction that the new bike seems to have taken.

There was a time when BMs were for those "in the know", other riders would save their nods for others, you'd be sneered at and forced to park at the other end of the car park. Obviously there will be the ex 1200 owners who will be hoping for their old bike with more, but BM are clearly looking to the mass market, traditionally the bm Naysayers. They have caved in and changed their excellent indicator system for a shitty one button type system to prove my point!

I'm not suggesting that's a silly idea, or that it's a suprise, but as someone who has grown to appreciate BMWs quirkiness, I can't help thinking that the marketing men are just selling the brand now rather than the product. Maybe the product is so good now that there is no need to sell it, or maybe the brand is the only thing that seperates it from all the other cross tourers :nenau

Stick around - It happens everytime a new model appears. And some of the posters you refer to were in that catagory once.

Nowdays it seems the majority of the new owners are of pensionable age. BMW has returned to it's original customer base :thumb

We are not trying to be - we are.

And we don't need an old bike to attract attention to us, we are naturally gifted :D

I was just provoking in that thread :D It's a fine looking machine in the same way I look like Tom Cruise if you squint enough :thumb

You mean if you actually close your eyes? :D

I don't know... You did say that in another thread:

« ... You do realise that the lc is like all other GSs in that they are underpowered, overweight lumps of germanic sensibleness

If I'm wrong why did they choose an hp4 for wsb not a toilet

If i wanted a plastic rocket I'd have gone to ann summers » :nenau

That's the old 1100 riders incontinence problem, they just don't want you up wind of them. :D

Can you see what I did there :D:D:D

Woah there tiger! I did say the above, but that's not saying it's a bad bike is it? The first part is exactly how I'd describe my GS and it is a great bike for my needs. As for the plastic rocket, that doesn't say it's a bad bike, just explains my thoughts about it compared to the lump of pig iron that is my 1150 :comfort

You're not very observant you LC owners, dangerous if you all ride at warp factor 10 with all that power:blast

These WC writers obviously don't read very well either,, I don't ride a 1150 or 1100 or airhead but it is so much fun taking the piss out of the new, it was done when the 1200 was launched and will be again. But then most of the WC's have only been using the toilet for a few years.
