Whilst the iPad is very portable its bloody frustrating to use. Try editing a quote when replying to a forum thread as an example

i'm still running a 2011 Macbook Air which accompanies me on my travels. No compromises and as the iPad gets more expensive, the price gap between the two is not double.

Is there any specific reason you need an iPad? There are lots of Android tablets out there that are better spec and value than the iPad. I had iMac, iPad, iPhone and as they came to the end of their lifespan I took of the rose tinted glasses and looked at what I actually used them for and ended up with a Mac mini and Nexus phone and tablet. Both of which are much better spec than the equivalent Apple badged products and seriously less expensive.

I resisted the lure of apple for many moons but I now have an iPad mini retina which I use all the time and is perfect for traveling and has a great camera too. I now have an iPhone 6s and when my Sony laptop dies it will be a MacBook to replace it. Although I hardly use the laptop just use my mini all the time 64g, great battery life and all I need.

I am sold

Pre-ordered the 9.7" pro on the 24th, due this Thursday. Was looking to upgrade our older ipad (gen2), and really interested in how the pencil/pen opens up new possibilities.

Apple delivered the pen today, which was a little silly as i cant do anything with it until they despatch the Ipad.

Expensive for what it is, but my wife uses the Ipad loads so happy to justify the cost.

Will let you know if there are any stand out features when it lands.

yes, they will...updated my iPad 2 32GB recently with the latest IOS....runs fine

After years of being a dedicated iPad fan I've finally had enough of the constant web page crashes and reloads and the lack of interaction with the real world. I was going to upgrade to a Mac book but on a whim bought a Microsoft surface pro and a clip on keyboard. What a piece of kit! I setup using my windows logon so it immediately downloaded Microsoft office and then upgraded to Windows 10 pro. It's blisteringly quick, has a beautiful screen and is exactly what I would imagine was microsofts original intention for their later versions of Windows.

Mine has 128gb of storage but there's a micro sd card slot that lets you double the storage for £35.

Brilliant piece of kit that's replaced my iPad, my laptop, one of my work laptops and desktop in one go.

Loving it. Full Windows 10 (not cut down) takes a 128gb. micro sd card. Will play gopro vids. direct of the gopro
using one of the two USB 3 ports. I'll be using it on trips to transfer gopro vids direct on to my small portable hard drive.
Hard drive in one usb gopro in other and transfer direct from one to the other. Try doing that with an ipad
It runs in either tablet or desktop mode which you can selevt. For what it does it's a bargain

Other than occasionally reloading web pages that freeze, my old iPad2 64Gb is still going strong with excellent battery life. I paid a lot for it in about 2010 but it has been worth every penny.

That said, I might try an Android tablet like a Samsung when the need to change arises.
