I voted no. If the 12 could have looked like the 1150 with the weight saving and the extra power Oh, and the alloys then I think it would have been perfect. But I still bought the 12 anyways.

But let's be honest here, a slug in looks alone. Out on the road the 1150 GS could surprise many a "sportsbike" rider. The 1200 just doesn't have the physical presence of the 1150 although to ride it is far superior (even if the build quality isn't).

As long as a 1200 rider comes along to a GS do on a bike he/she enjoys, has a drink with an 11xx rider that turned up on a bike that he/she also enjoy and both have a bloody good laugh, who the fekk cares?????

I went to some bike meet thingie at some marina in Cambridge (ish) yesterday evening. I arrived with a couple of mates on their pocket rockets and went for a drink. I was watching the car park and was mildly amused as several sportsbike riders ignored the beautiful repsol blades to look at my pig ugly yellow 12GS . But to answer the question some fella then turned up on an 1150adv with all the lights. It looked superb, although I own a 1200 I think the 1150 looks better, especially the adv.

I thought it was about riding them? The 1150 is a gargantuan mega beast that is not a delight to ride. Its comfortable and capable and bullet proof but is as agile as a london bus. the 12GS is all things to all men, true ethos and evloution of the GS name. It is by far the best all round bike I have ridden and I can look at it continually and not get at all dissapointed in it. The R1200 ST is another issue tho'...... FABULOUS bike and better than the 1100s but uglier than a botched up autopsy. If that was the trade off for BMs designers getting teh 12GS and ADV right then so be it!

absolutely!! sure it takes a little getting used to but the 1200 is surely a distinctive looking bike. i think it wins hands down
