Hi,
On another thread I have discussed a 3-4K misfire on my 1150GSa single spark.
I have taken the coil off and measured the resistance as per the Haynes manual and the original BMW repair manual
The high tension side was fine and matched the ohms resistance reading in the manuals (7.5k ohms) BUT, (according to both manuals,) the low tension side SHOULD be 0.5 ohms, unfortunatly mine is reading 0.9ohms!!

Is this error enough to create problems in the coil??? and could this problem create the misfire as rpm rises??

incidental info...Bike ticks over fine and steady at 1100rpm, fuel delivery side checked and seems ok, fuel filter changed, sparks plugs changed, throttles balanced, HT leads visually checked and seem ok and undamaged.

Any ideas??

cheers

Reading low resistance values is notoriously difficult. You are into the realms of contact resistance. How good are your croc clips? How good is your digital meter?

It is unlikely to be the LT side of the coil. Usually it's the HT side which can sometimes break down under certain conditions.

Best of luck.

Did you connect the two meter leads together and check what the meter displayed? this will need to be taken from the reading you get from the coil, some meters have a zero set button but most cheaper ones don't. but obviously a good quality meter would be better, if you know an electrician they will have calibrated continuity meters that will be accurate as they have to have them calibrated every year.
