is SPC now open?

And someone has mentioned Chandlers Ford near Southampton on an out-of-town trading estate site.

.

Noticed that the BMW dealership in Chandlers Ford has just started building work on what looks like either another showroom or more workshops. At the moment it is just a big hole in the ground. Hope it turns out to be a bike dealership as it is right opposite my office.

Dealers

According to the BMW motorrad website there are five dealers within 33 miles of my house. Another one wouldn't go astray!

bridge motorcycles old shop by alan day honda in southampton would make a good shop for bmw!! :)

Not a bad location, and the space is not too shabby, either. part from parking which was often a bit 'tight' Used to get my Blackbird serviced there.

That would be ideal at Chandlers Ford, close to the South Coast yet accessible via A34/M3 and A303 or A272/A31.

Nice bit of twisties and roundabout surfing to Winchester on the old A272 then down to the new dealership ?? .....lets hope so.

Portsmouth Yamaha's old site has a tiny workshop despite its ample sales floor, always the bane of SPC which needed more space for servicing and parts.

Access into Pompey or Soton is always a pain especially during a home game on Saturdays so lets hope Chandlers Ford is the location of choice.

Portsmouth yamaha shop is still empty and that would make a great bmw shop :D

anyone mad enough though?

Spoke to BMW customer services last week, with reference to a recall notice i received in the post, once that was sorted out i asked about a new dealer for the south, and was told that they're still in 'talks' with someone about using the existing premises at Lower Farringdon (ex SPC) and were hoping to have something in place before xmas, if not very soon after. Anyone been past there and noticed anything?

No, it wouldn't.

The workshop is too small.

And it's a pig to get to, especially if Portsmouth are playing at home.
you do ride a bike dont you??

maybe in a car it would be a pain :)

workshops were quite big when i last looked maybe i missed something, some of the guys who worked there now work for us :(

I bet you could squeeze about four or five bike lifts in the old Pompey Yamaha premises, and no room for a decent sized spare parts dept unless the place was remodelled. The workshop was long yet thin, the bike mechanics would be tripping over each other trying to work in such a space, I'm amazed at how the Yamaha guys managed it.

Does little Andy (ex Pompey Yamaha/Infinity) work at your place now ??

There was enough hassle with SPC and the hordes of BMWs that would inevitably be queued up outside waiting for a service, some of which sat there all day whilst their customers drank the place dry of coffee until closing time( :spitfire ) and they had a pretty roomy workshop, albeit with crap side access.

That was never the case when i booked my bike in for a service, it would be booked in for a specific time, and was always in the workshop no later than 1/2 an hour after that time.

yes andy is now with us,known him for years:D

think your right about the workshop side, demand would be too great and space would vanish rapidly:(

shame the old motorcycle city place in fratton road was'nt still around, that was big enough:D
