I have a Keis heated vest that draws under 3A. Running it from the battery pack, it works fine, as it does using the Keis cigarette lighter 12V adapter in the car. However, removing the red cap on the cigarette lighter adapter to fit it to the BMW DIN connector, the vest isn't powering and the controller doesn't light up at all. I can't work out whether it's the socket or lighter adapter that's at fault.

I have the jacket version and it works fine from the on bike socket providing that the engine is running

Thanks for the confirmation. Turns out the pins on the lighter adapter needed bending out a bit more. For a £15 adapter, it really was the most shoddy bit of crap in every possible way. Assembled incorrectly. Fuses didn't fit. Anyway, working now. Let's hope the vest itself is not made by the same people as the lighter adapter! :)

I had a similar issue but the plug just wouldn't play ball, I chopped it off and used another I had lying around.

I just wanted to finish this thread with a little praise for Barry at Motohaus who distribute the Keis gear.

I'd emailed Motohaus during the evening querying whether the lighter adapter would work straight off with the GS. I got an email from Barry at ten past nine the next morning asking for my phone number. We exchanged a few emails where I explained I was a bit miffed with the adapter. As well as explaining why the contacts are not always right as supplied, Barry put a brand new cable in the post along with a set of fuses and the correct fuse for my vest already fitted. The new lighter part doesn't have any of the problems of the original one, and I now have a spare.

So big thumbs up to Barry at Motohaus. Good customer support results in a happy customer. :thumb2

I had dealings with Barry about four or five years ago. Top bloke does the company credit.
