You lot crack me up
Picture this....
If you bought a brand new car for £14k and it changed gear like a GS WC or had corrosion issues or water pump leaks or the front subframe was misaligned
You complained repeatedly, along with your fellow cohorts
The manufacturer then changed the engine or the bike once or twice & in some cases it was no better or maybe even worse than the original car
Would you still be defending the car to the hilt or saying the faults were just a characteristic of that brand of car
Would you bollox
Some of you need a reality check, ask for your money back & just buy something else
Only then, BMW might improve the R&D and QC protocols
Couldn't agree more with the sentiment....and I think the majority here would agree. I was resolute that I would not chop my old GSA in for a WC for a year or so to let the problems be resolved. With the willpower of a jelly fish I crumpled after test riding a WC and now have a lovely blue GSA WC in the garage.
The motor is awesome, I loves the looks but the suspension in Road is just not right....way too hard on compression has left me losing confidence in bumpy corners.
On the gear change.....absolutely brill 4,5 and 6. BUT as many have reported....big clonck and lurch into first. Upshift 2 and 3 is just awful with the gear lever rebounding back on the change meaning I cannot wear my Sidi Couriers as I get a bruised foot after a while. And as for changing down 2 and 3 I get a lurch as if I am doing a clutch less down shift.
Having ridden for 34 years I can honestly say this is the worst gear change I have had and the ride quality compared to my old Single cam does not compare. In Road/normal I went down a piece of road I know very well at 60mph. There are some expansion joints that are very sharp ridges that on my old GSA would clearly cause a shock through the bike.....on the new GSA the whole of the rear is lifting off the Tarmac.....BMW tell me the bike is within normal parameters....which is just bollocks.
The enjoyment of my bike has been ....though about this word allot and the right word is "ruined". £17k and the dealership won't even return my calls on the matter ( and yes...I have been very reasonable....maybe my problem).
So, Ding-Dong...with you all the way mate...do not give up until you have the bike you thought you had purchased. And for all of you out there with no problems....rejoice as it IS a fantastic bike when working outside of BMWs parameters...I.e. Properly.
The battle continues.

What I see is somebody who really likes what is essentially a very good bike and is frustrated by knowing that his bike could and should be a lot better. He strikes me as being measured, persistant and determined to get what he ultimatly wants. What's wrong with that?
