I am trying to get info on the ferry that runs from Tarbet to the cowel penisula.Has anybody used it? I am hoping to use it when i go to Arran in May.

I used the Tarbet Ferry in the past it was pretty good. As HRH says it used to be like the Scottish TT back in the day. I remember taking my brand new Suzuki TS 250 over to Brodick Sept weekend in 1979:eek:
Everybody used to congeregate at a country house pub/disco/hotel thing just at the edge of Brodick then. Used to be a brilliant weekend and the island is great for touring around:thumb

hi doyle i often use it in the summer months its quite a regular service. The service is one of CalMac,s so it should be possible to get a time table. I usually just turn up ,never been a problem. The run over the top of the peninsula is a good un. I use it as part of a big loop to connect to the other ferry service (western ferries)back n fourth between the argyle side n the ayrshire side makes it only 67 miles door to door!!

It's a cracking wee road on the Portavadie side.

If I'm in no hurry on the bike taking the 2 ferry route to Glasgow is a nice wee ride...

(Tarbert/Portavadie then Western Ferries Hunters Quay/ Gourock. Next time I go,just for a change, it'll be a 4 ferry route:augie )
