Something is drawing current from the battery as after a few days standing, the Adv struggles to turn over. Fitted a new battery last month and I commute 70 miles a day. My headlight has been known to come on intermittently whilst the bike is parked up, but this seems to have resolved itself. I'm not a sparky nor do I have the faintest idea of Canbus. I have a Garmin cradle connected directly to the battery but seldom use the unit.

How does one go about isolating a current drain or is this something best left to the pros?

I suspect the Garmin cradle may be keeping the auxiliary power circuits active after you switch off the ignition.

If it's truly an intermittent fault then good luck tracing the source.

Best bet is to put an ammeter in series with the battery feed cable and cycle the ignition on and off to see if you can record any draw from the battery, however DO NOT try to start or crank the engine without fitting a suitable shunt across the ammeter or the current draw would most likely blow the ammeter as they are typically rated at max 10 Amps at 12V DC.

Are you pressing the indicator switch accidentally whilst applying the steering lock, IIRC this will activate a parking light when the ignition is turned off.
