It gave me a headache..

Never reached screen nirvana with a GS... with a bike about as aerodynamic as a brick you've got your work cut out ;)

Most naked bikes are even worse than a GS for aerodynamics but they dont shake your head off with turbulence off the screen.

Many faired bikes have horrible screens. This is what I did with my Diversion 900. The expensive MRA was expensive but the flipped top just made turbulence worse and the adjustable spoiler worse still. It's now mounted upside down and working like a Givi Airflow though mine is angle adjustable rather than height.

Turbulence is much reduced and while noisy its fine with ear plugs. Its loads better than the standard screen which does nothing properly.

As I said, I was surprised how such a large bike handled. Not only do I believe it, I was riding it.

Don't be a fuckwit Bob, accept that there are other motorcycles out there apart from the GS that can go round corners.

You're the one being the fuckwit Red1. You are aggressive and rude in your responses to others (see exhaust thread in Honda section for another example of your abusive manner). And if you really believe a Goldwing can keep up with a GS on sweepy A and B roads then you are delusional too. I toured with a "half decent" rider on the 1800 and he didn't have a hope in hell of keeping up.

One thing your 40 plus years of experience hasn't taught you is manners and respect:tosser

Maybe that's because you such an exceptional rider?

I can make a Yamaha Diversion 900 zip along nicely even with its worn rear shock knuckle joint and unsophisticated suspension. It can certainly embarrass many dayglo weekend sports bike riders.

The Goldwing clearly isnt in the BMW handling league but it does handle one heck of a lot better than its ever given credit for.

Can we get back to screens now.

Screen size/orientation is a very personal thing. With a 1200GSA/Wunderlich low seat, and the screen fully upright - the screen takes all the buffeting (and flies from my visor) off me (5'11") other riders will find different.

I think there is a downside to this, in that the bike feels a bit vague above 90 on bendy roads. (will a goldiewingy do 90?)

That said - I think most people agree that the ADV screen is an improvement on the standard 1200GS screen.

Al :)

A BMW marketing man then asked me if I had any comments about the bike, so I queried why the screen adjuster is on the right hand side of the screen. He asked why this would matter, and when I suggested that the left side would be better as it's not your throttle hand, he told me that you should adjust the screen while stationary.

Must be a cunning plan to get you to specify the optional cruise control.:D
