I've got a problem..........

The man wins a hobnob :thumb

Approx litre and a half.

Owner always parked it on the side stand, so the water was in the lefthand side of the tank until he'd ridden a couple miles which coincided with the temp guage reaching 5 bars, just as the pump started to suck up some water.
Kept taking the tank off ,so the water was getting splashed about and not settling which made the bike run fine everytime i tested something, then a while later, once the water had settled, it started to act up again.

I even pumped fuel out of the injector supply and it was all clear and ok.

Alls well that ends well.

I

Could it be poor quality fuel or possibly water in the tank?

Shep

Neil, does Shep get the left over HobNob crumbs ?

cheers:D

bloody water

well the tubes clear ive emptied most of the fuel out of the cap 18 quids worth but could not get it all out filled it up running on 1 oops the throttle cable seating (only noticed after id had the tank off again) ran great ......
taped a bin bag over the cap then this morning ran great..... for 4 miles then same again. looks like the tank`ll have to be blown dry again
ill be chapping on steptoes door on his return ... hell probably turn round and go away again after the last fiasco
collect new seals sat morning

Check you car accessory shop for a product called "dry fuel" I think its mostly methanol but it mixes with water and lets it burn in the engine as normal, STP and Wynns make it amongst others (do solve the problem of it getting in first though)

dont want to tempt fate but..... fingers crossed

ive taped a bin bag across the filler till i get the seals as a precaution

"Vaseline"

Clean the bit that is supposed to go down into the throat of the filler cap and also clean the keyhole and it's wee rubber seal then apply a smear of vaseline neatly around about

Don't use anything sharp because your pipe changes from metal to rubber not far below the filler, I use strimmer twine the plastic stuff about 2 / 3 mm in diameter, secret is to twist as you insert :green gri:green gri:green gri

For a test at the right hand side of the rear of the tank there are 2 rubber pipes if you undo them at the plastic connectors and blow back up toward the tank, only one should let air escape into the tank i.e. the tank vent. the other one should exit through the wee hole on the left side of the filler well, If you're hearing air other than through the drain hole it's no major crisis because you can replace those hoses relatively easily

I've a 1200Bandit not long away, where the Keyhole wasn't sealing and was letting water thru into the tank
