JohnGS1100 Tuning Chip

Well couldn't wait for the weekend, and went for another ride this morning (took the day off, self employed)

It rides very sweet even gears seem to just drop in easier, I assume its because of the smooth-resposive throttle.

I will get back with some fuel consumption figures in the future.

John, what other vehicles can you do a chip for as my work vehicle could do with some of your magic.
It's a 2000 Ford Courier ute 2.6L petrol.

Thanks Pablo.
For your ford Courier it is hard to make remapping.
It is not so easy as BMW bike's ECU (by replace the chip), sould have the ECU here, for ford ECU needed immo keys maps and read-write the bin file on ECU.

But also if you can read (and write) the bin file from your (Ford) ECU (by helping from engineering) you can send to me by e-mail, and i will make remapping on it, that is very easy for me. :)

Thanks for the reply John, I wouldn't know where to start with any of that as my brain works in a mechanical way.

All those discussions you had with Roger were going way over my head, I had no idea what was going on towards the last posts with all those graphs and numbers.

Thanks for your offer anyway :thumb2

John,

installed your stage 5 chip today and can confirm all the above - smooth, more responsive, more torque. Top job! :thumb2

Put stage 5 chip in my 1100GS last weekend. Also did zero=zero and carb balance. More torque, smoother, more power, no surging or hesitation at part throttle. A joy to ride. Fuel mileage about the same as before on a 170 mile outing. Thanks John, very pleased..

Thanks to all friends.

Note please that the ECU of R1150 models needs some miles to load all new maps. So the best consumption will be after few days :).

Great to see you're having success Jeremy on the new chip. I'll be putting one in my R1100GS when it arrives based on your feedback. Hope the trip's going great, wish I was there ! :)

Meanwhile, am interested if there's similar success with chipping the 850GS (anyone, please?!!!) as I was unable to find anything in the threads on here, and didn't hear back from John on facebook when I asked him about it.

Cheers,

It's the same as an r series but different suspension. Mine now goes so much better. Someone might be along shortly to confirm but it made a huge difference to mine. Getting my bike back tomorrow. Can't wait!

Hello friends :)
The improvement to R850 is much better, because the maps in to the stock chip is too preservative.
By stage 5 chip the R850R have consumption up tp 55 MPG and the torque and power goes up to 15-20 %.
I think that R850 engine is the best old boxer for tuning, for performance and economy consumption :)

Edit :
Also i need to tell, that the forum (UKGSER) help us to much, we were able to talk constructively, thank so much all forum's friends, especially the English friends who tried to start the CHIPS and applauded my efforts :clap

In the coming days I will present the latest dyno by a special tuning chip based on all maps (R1100S-R1150GS-R-RT-RS) to a R1150 (single spark) with large intake tubes (from RT-RS), big camshafts, free air filter and de-cat special system exhaust for updating knowledge us all :)

thanks John , looks like I'll be buying one chip for each bike ! I also have a remus full exhaust which I'm waiting to collect.

Will this be better on the 850 or the 1100 with your chip in your experience ?

The best is the chip for R850 stage 5. Working much better by K/N air filter and your system exhaust (Remus) by consumption up to 55mpg.

Here is a little show from a R850 with chip and free hardware setup (K/N - de-cat system exhaust) from Malta :

Always late - I haven't read all 23 pages! The first few though.....Remus end can, y-piece and otherwise stock 2-spark Adv 2003. Does anything need setting up with one of these? Or is it simply fit the chip and that's it ? I did look at the pictures of where the chip lives...I have still yet to go and see what the photos relate to though!
