JohnGS1100 Tuning Chip

to report back, my R11GS, no cat, co pot and virtually standard running the stage 4 is doing really well... It is the best running and smoothest 11 I have ridden bar an equally smooth Rt that I rode over a decade ago... Not only that but it is far more tractable and is easily returning 45 mpg, even in shite windy wet weather and with no effort to economise... My last GS was nearer 40-42 for the same type of trips... I expect to get a fairly easy 50mpg on longer runs and/or in better conditions...

top job:thumb

Happy Birthday John, many thanks for all you hard work developing your chip.

John, as an expat Greek myself, your birthday song had me in tears!

Best wishes to yourself,

regards,

Mario.

Happy b/day John :thumb2
This song, why?
I wish all the best for you.
You are the man, you are responsible for making my ride infinitely more enjoyable with your clever chip.

John, can you tell me what my CO should be, measured in the exhaust ?

Idle is just a bit better now, overall performance is much better ! Comsumption is about the same, 1:17 ( liter/km ), only riding on small villageroads with 3 starts every ride ( have to wait for the ferry every morning and afternoon ), couple of trafficlights.

I dont know if you CO-POT work well. You can check it by this way:

Take out the CCP and make this : By Voltometer adjust it (as the stock settings).

1 & 3 - 0,983K ohms
1 & 2 - 205 ohms
2 & £ - 792 ohms

You mean on these connections 1,2 and 3 on the COpot ? These are the stock settings you say, but I adjusted it according to your advice by going from 3500 to 3600 revs ? Or do you mean to check whether my COpot works like it should and thàn adjust from 3500 to 3600 ??

Your link goes to the Greek forum and I can only find some English words to guide me ;)
On the last page Houlio has a quote saying:

" for what it's worhth my stock R1100GS ran well on the following pot settings:
1 & 3 - 1.03K ohms
1 & 2 - 203.7 ohms
2 & £ - 834 ohms
"

CCP out, contact off, probes from multimeter stuck in plug from COpot (still connected) readings are:
1-3 178
1-2 80
2-3 229

Contact on:

1-3 - 499 ( probes other way around 0.0 )
1-2 - 229 ( probes other way around 487 )
2-3 - 484 ( probes other way around 0.0 )

Not even close to your numbers ??

Yes I mean 1,2 and 3 on CO-POT, but you sould refit the CO-POT not by the wire on motobike..
Refit it and make adjustmens stantalone.

These setings is stock :

1 & 3 - 0,983K ohms
1 & 2 - 205 ohms
2 & £ - 792 ohms

and these custom setings (on friend bike from Greece work well) :
1 & 3 - 1.03K ohms
1 & 2 - 203.7 ohms
2 & £ - 834 ohms "

So take the CO pot from the wiringplug and have it on the workbench ? I was figuring it had to be connected since you mentioned removing the CCP ?

Yes. !! Play with the two settings, you will find the best :)

Okay, tried several values. turning the screw changes the settings all at the same time, least affecting value 1 & 3

Suggested by John:

1&3: 0.983
1&2: 205
2&3: 792

Setting value 1&2 as suggested by John gives:

1&3: 1027
1&2: 205 (duh ;) )
2&3: 825

Setting value 2&3 as suggested by John gives:

1&3: 1029
1&2: 240
2&3: 792 ( remember ;) )

Setting the values as suggested by John's friend:

1&3: 1.03K
1&2: 203.7
2&3: 834

results in

Setting 1&2 as suggested :

1&3: 1028
1&2: 203 ( right ;) )
2&3: 829

Seting 2&3 as suggested;

1&3: 1028
1&2: 196
2&3: 834 ( of course )

Should I try to get somewhere inbetween on one of the given values ( starting with John's values ) ?
