JohnGS1100 Tuning Chip

Stage 8 fitted. Only a brief ride but definitely better than the 6. Seems a little better in the mid range, top end good too. Really noticed the mid range

The Stage 8 is for full stock bike and is the top end stage.

Also i made a stage 9 by little more richer fuell for bikes with free air filter or de-cat system exhaust.

I try soon a stage 10 chip to R1100S, it is for racing driving. Higher timing advance and more time ignition to the sparks for full power.

It is the same project bike, this was the dyno graph by stage 8-9 chip :

Comming soon.. by a new dyno graph, Stage 10 final chip.

State 9 Chip

Hi John,

After too long I went to fit the chip, to my bike (1100GS, CO2 pot, standard exhaust and filter), assume this is the wrong chip? Looks to me like a stage 9?

Should have checked a long time ago :blast

Check it please.

It is for R1100GS 1993-1999 year models. WIll wrok fine.

Just reporting in... wow, the chip (9) is awesome, I feel like I have a new bike, only done 80 miles today, but such smoothness and power and the best bit is the surging has gone, completely. In fact, I tried to get the bike to surge, riding at 30mph in 5th, just chugged along beautifully smoothly, awesome, so so impressed, wish I'd fitted it earlier :thumb2 :clap

No idea of mph yet, but don't care, the torque and acceleration has increased again :D

John, you are a legend

The Stage 9 chip is the most powerfully that i made for safety function of engine. No surging, no pings, needed only 95 or higher octane petrols.
Gives more 1.5 Krg torque (+15%) at middle revs of rpms and more +10 Hp at high rpms.
It is like a new bike :)

Pm sent for stage 9 chip -)

I'm getting a bit confused as to which chip No we are up to now, I've had a stage 5 (I think) chip fitted for a while, very pleased with it, but reading this thread there is an improvement to be had by updating.
Which do I go for? bike is a 2000 1150GS, Y piece and standard air filter.
What happens if I fit a stage 10 and perhaps can't find 95 octane fuel? Will it run just with less power, or will it end up sounding like a dry clutch Ducati?

Yes by the stage 9 chip the bike will run at high rpms like a real japanish 1000cc bike. Needed free de-cat (y-pipe) exhaust with K/N air filter, good synthetic motor oil and iridium sparks by 95 or higher octane petrols.
The Stage 10 need 98-100 octane petrols, cause the higher ignition timing advance.

I made a project for an R1100S and runs great in the circuit.

For some friends who have the stage 4-5 chip and need the stage 8-9 chip just send me a pm please, i can send by the minimum cost (chip+shipping) the new version.

Thanks.

I had my single spark R1150GS doing 200km/h with stage 9 chip, I felt that it still had a bit more but I run out of road a couple of times.
I don't really want to try it on the highway because I dont want to take any chances with my licence.
I run Y piece, K&N with standard muffler and Brisk plugs.
Next I'll try some platinum plugs as recommended by John and report back.

Yes. The platinum or iridium sparks work for much more miles without down the power. That gives better consumption.

Also i recommend fully synthetic oil 10w50 or 10w60 for more resistance of the metals of engine, because the boxer is air cooled and the temp is from 40-140 Celcium, so the oil must withstand to all temps situations.

By the new iridium spark and the fully synthetic oil and by the stage 9 chip and 95 or higher octane petrols, the old boxer engine is like a new bike.
Very low cost, much more miles for replacing the sparks and oils, better consumption, much more torque and power and no problem for engine. I test it to many boxers for 5 years..

Note also that BMW (for racing driving) the recommend oil for boxers is 10W50 fully synthetic.

Hi Alan (Sheene).

Chip (stage 9) was send ! Will arrive to UK after 6-8 working days.

I made corrections to the AFR at 3.000-3.500 (the stock was very lean), and i give the higher ignition timing advance for 95+ octane petrols. Also gives expand timing ignition to the sparks for perfect burning for power by the best consumption.

Huge torque at middle and high power at high rpms.

Will work great on your bike with free air K/N filter and de-cat system exhaust.

Let us know please about results.

It is my best work on R1150GS single spark !!

Whats the best chip for low end torque and mpg ?
Single spark 1150GS, de-cat race can with K&N

For de-cat and K/N the best chip is the stage 9.
For stock bike the best chip is the stage 8.
