K&N Air Filter Replacment

I have had bikes with these in and bikes without, none have gone bang or ever shown any signs of issues caused by dirt ingress. I am guessing it would take tens of thousands of miles to show up if you used a bad filter anyway- not sayong K&N is bad, just that dust ingress is going to cause slow wear.

I have also never noticed any performance increase from filters, or even exhausts, even if you do get a 3-4% gain I am not so sure you would notice it.

I have had good "results" from remaps with Jap bikes which are often very rich in stock trim, my ZZR picked up 6-8BHP through the midrange, yet again I could not feel any difference on the road apart from the bike being much smoother.

Geoff at Hiltop motorcycles tells me he can get huge gains from remapping BMW engines, regardless of filter type.

Not sure if your looking to save money or get performance, but either way if you like K&N and want one just go and get one, I personally prefer to use stock ones and replace them more often if for no other reason than not having to worry about maintaining them correctly...

Which I guess is probably most important, over-oil and I bet they flow badly, under-oil and they probably do not protect so well, a lot of faffing about in my book.

Your earlier comments suggest that this not the case. :nenau
go on then, enlighten me that they have nowt to do with fueling,, after all , i binned my lambda on the 1150

rasher, your correct with the over oiling, but it sorts itself out after a run,
tbh, a lot of people dont oil em anymore for better flow, i think thats a bit ott though,
6 to 8 on midrange on a zzr? its bugger all compared to the power its putting out in those areas anyway,
you,d feel it on a gs i bet
