Be careful with mag-wheel cleaning solutions... they usually contain a small amount of hydroflouric acid. It gets brake dust off quick sharp, but it is corrosive to human skin and poisonous in the extreme.
You may want to invest in a very soft, long-bristled carpet-cleaning brush. Use that to clean your wheels, with a strong dishwashing-liquid solution in plenty of water.

i use poor boys wheel sealant from polished bliss.have a look at their website,

This armorAll stuff is not a wheel cleaner as such,you spray it on after you have got the wheels clean.What it does is make it a lot easier to get them clean when you next wash the bike.
Believe it or not, I've had the best success with Ph neutral baby wipes. They are particularly good at getting chain fling off the missus's bike. They are also easy to get in between spokes etc.

I use the same stuff, works really well, and then brake dust and other crud just wipes away for a few months.
I also use a diluted solution of Billberry Wheel cleaner, again from Polished Bliss or cleanyourcar.co.uk and that is great for cleaning off brake dust and other crud, before giving it a go over with the poor boys.
The poor boys is pink ... and smells nice to (I have no idea at all why I mentioned that
)The Wheel wax / sealant is a PITA to apply and polish it all off, but it is worth it, as it will protect the wheels and keep them shiny for 3 - 4 months. Water just beads off afterwards.
Baby shampoo works pretty good for a clean to, as it does not contain salt, and it can be cheaper than posh car shampoos

Acidic wheel cleaners or anything containing salt are bad idea. There will always be some trapped in the spoke holes accelerating alloy to stainless (spokes) corrosion.
Spray them in FS365 and leave em dirty 
Wash the wheels, dry them, then place a little drop of ACF50 where each spoke enters the rim to prevent corrosion at that point. Use a clean cloth to spread the excess ACF50 on the rim and polish it in, it cleans the wheel up a treat!
I do this at the beginning and at the end of Winter, if I wash the bike in between these two washes (I don't normally, I usually just hose off any salt) I'll repeat the ACF50 treatment. Throughout summer I don't bother with the ACF50 after washes, unless there are any immovable stains, they generally come up clean.
