So what's the knack to using the kickstart ?. Earlier post say's bike was on side stand, does everybody else do this ?. I once watched somebody with the bike on the centrestand and their left foot on the barrel / cylinder head whilst they kick started the bike with their right foot.

Seems a completely stupid way to knacker your centre stand pivots as well as unnecessary stress on the cylinder

Stick bike on sidestand, pull clutch lever in so you can push the kick starter down..release clutch lever and gently push kick starter until you think you have found compression. Then prod firmly but don't try to kick the lever through the floor !! Should start about second kick..maybe third..maybe fourth
Do make sure you have the right black box like I have fitted
or it will be nigh on impossible to kick start.Hope this helps
