Has anyone had the modified cam chain tensioner (R1200 type) removed from their bike and if so is the movement a lot less than you would expect or is it just full of oil and will not move. Mine seems to have very little movement after it was removed recently and I am wondering if the chain is rattling about and causing my knock which is doing my head in !

For what it's worth, you may get some idea whether your tensioner is OK or not by searching on YouTube. There are a couple of videos of the replacement being fitted.

I find it hard to believe your tensioner has little initial compression. Is the hole near the top of the tensioner blocked. The spring is there for initial tension, the oil pressure completes the tensioning through hydraulic action.
Just discovered there is a little ball valve in the tensioner and once released it works fine !
