If you are on bt broadband, it means that you will have numerous places you can connect to wifi anyway ( though not so much in airports and shopping centres etc). Also places like Costa and MucDonalds also have free wifi connections.
A little depends what you want to do. You only need 3G if you want to use a phone network, and i agree with whats been said about "tethering" (using your existing phone to create a wifi connection. . .Making the phone into a router and connecting to that).
Why not pop into pcworld, and get someone to show and explain to you, make decision. . .But commit to nothing. Come back here and check and see if we agree with you, then buy what YOU need.
