Laptop or Ipad?

If you are on bt broadband, it means that you will have numerous places you can connect to wifi anyway ( though not so much in airports and shopping centres etc). Also places like Costa and MucDonalds also have free wifi connections.

A little depends what you want to do. You only need 3G if you want to use a phone network, and i agree with whats been said about "tethering" (using your existing phone to create a wifi connection. . .Making the phone into a router and connecting to that).

Why not pop into pcworld, and get someone to show and explain to you, make decision. . .But commit to nothing. Come back here and check and see if we agree with you, then buy what YOU need.

I have a Galaxy Note it has a 5" screen runs on android and its a phone so does the same as a tablet just a bit smaller but can be used as a satnav as well for portability its worth a look.

I have the Google Nexus 7 (made by ASUS) Nexus means it has been designed in partnership with Google, eg Samsung also have Nexus models.

The Google Nexus doesn't have a card slot which is why the 32GB is the better one to get.

It does support USB OTG which means you can plug card readers and cameras that do mass storage into a cheap adapter cable.

If you want a keyboard just get a bluetooth one, just picked one up for 20 quid at Maplins.

If you want mobile internet a good way is get a 3 mifi unit and a 12 month 12GB data sim.
