Be interested to hear if anyone else has experienced any issues with the clutch less gear change on the WC? A couple of weeks ago I rode out from home and just couldn't get it to change gear without using the clutch. After a few miles I pulled over, switched the engine off and then restarted and the change was now working again but didn't feel as smooth as it had been. On a recent, fairly long trip I was conscious that the change was still very stiff despite trying various actions with the twist grip, in fact, the only way to change down is to blip the throttle, something it should do itself, then it just sticks into a lower gear. Changing up is a different matter, to make that smoother I have to slightly back off. Now all this feels to as it the gear change pro isn't working at all and all I'm doing is good old clutch less changes.

Anyone else had a similar problem?

Mine is still a bit stiff going down but getting better as the miles clock on. Going up it is super !
Get it back to the dealer and have them look at the software !

That dont sound right.
5000+ miles on mine now and the shifter is still buttery smooth, up and down the box.

Got it back to the dealer.

Mine has always been stiff in both directions (up and down), but I still only have about 750 miles on the bike.

To be honest I guess I'm old school, I forget to change without the clutch.

I have similar problems with up and down shifts, on upshifts it seldom works. I've tried holding the throttle constant, accelerating and easing off slightly, only occasionally does it work
Downshifts work more often but not sure if I'm forcing the shift myself as it has never blipped the revs.
While I'm on a roll, it's occasionaly jerky at low revs... Revs pick up then die off causing a kangaroo type learner driver thing

Gear assist...
It's a joke.
Mine's an ex demo 5,000 miles. You have to press (stamp) quite hard for down changes, apply a lot of pressure for up changes, (hurts my foot....) the result is a jerk either up or down.
It's worse than me doing bad clutchless changes on the old twin cam model.
When I get it right the upchanges are as good as the old model, just ease the throttle and if you get it right it's smooth. ...... But you're not supposed to move the throttle it says in the handbook.
Seems a waste money and something I don't need especially if it doesn't work.

eerrrr..... perhaps it's not fitted to my bike? LE model with everything except the radio and handbrake

Oh! and re reading a previous post, I'm sure I've had the throttle open on me undemanded at low speed, just when I don't need it. I thought it was trying to maintain minimum idle speed but I was doing about 2,000rpm

Mine works but i'm still getting used to it and sometimes I experience what others have described....BUT....I personally don't think it's the tool but the tool using it.
When I think that it's a fault I'll book into the dealers and let them sort it.

At the end of the day "it's a machine" and it either as a fault, an intermittent fault, or I just need to learn how to use it. The latter seems to be the answer for me as the more I use it the more I get it right.

Great machine !

Mine works well, but not going from 1 to 2. When changing up a gear, I find that The trick is to not use it on a trailing or level throttle opening: you need to be brave, crank the throttle open and then it works a treat. I suppose it is a bit of tech from the race bikes... Going down the box I find it works brilliantly.

Mine works well, but not going from 1 to 2.

I find that shifting from 1st to 2nd is perfect if you short shift.
The shift assist pro is one of my favourite features on the RT, and works brilliantly for me.
You simply need to ensure that you upshift under acceleration and downshift on a closed throttle.

It you are doing this correctly, but you're still having trouble, then get your dealer to sort it.

Absolutely correct!

An update. Took the 'bike back to dealers and they conformed that the Pro-shift was not working, faulty switch. Just had new one fitted and now works like it used to - brilliant. But on my trip into the dealers I noticed that the menu switch was playing up, couldn't change screens. Dealer noticed it too and suggested that the switchgear needed replacing, maybe do it the same time as the right hand switchgear as there is a 'recall' due because of a potential fault with the kill switch. Seemingly the kill switch can get stuck in the 'Kill' position; personally I never use the switch, just use the key. Just have to wait for the switchgear to come in as there is a delay on getting them in! Expensive 'bike, bloody cheap switchgear - WHY?

On mine, 2014 GS TE, 9k miles, it's perfect, no problem up or down the box. Very light going up the box as well, need to a be a little firmer on down shifts.

I've said it before, and i'll say it again. Its a shame many of you cannot ride a bike properly and have to rely on gimmicks. I can change gear up and down on my bike with no problem at all. I JUST USE THE CLUTCH.
i can even do clutchless changes both ways on my bike using nothing more than personal skill and good hearing for throttle balance.
