Today I had the rear disc replaced after the standard "safety inspection" reported that the rear disc was 4.5mm thick (minimum 5.0mm). The full retail cost would have been £300 plus (a new disc requires new pads and it all had to be fitted at workshop rates).
I used to have rear brake pads fitted frequently (though these were funded by my dealer or BMW; thank-you!) then the new harder-material pads were introduced. Not being backward in coming forward and seeing a connection I immediately said "is that a warranty replacement?". After a sharp intake of breath the Motorcycle Sales Manager was engaged and helpfully said he would refer this to BMW.
I have 15,500 miles on the bike and don't consider myself hard on the brakes (...but don't we all?!) - not really good enough for me. Anyone else experienced this (yet)?
