Le Mans to Berlin and a bit beyond

Eight minutes to go…. There’s a Porsche moving up fast in fourth place. The Ferrari needs to watch its rear as it pushes to maintain third, whilst still looking for second.

Mass exodus has commenced at once.

Race tracks clear quickly, not least because the authorities want any roads that have been closed to be reopened.

At Le Mans, they put out announcements to the teams telling them by when the pits etc have to be cleared. It’s not long. A couple of hours after the race has finished, it’s hard to imagine that there was a race at all.

That's the problem with Anglesey which is a fantastic track; but getting people in and out quickly for a big event can't happen because of the rd's; or so i was told.

Extended highlights:

Now I’ve seen the highlights, I think you were right EV, there was a camera somewhere behind me.
From you photos Richard of the new control tower, and what I’ve seen during live race, I was certain you was somewhere just below the lens.

Monday and my first day of not being greeted by wall to wall blue, though yesterday’s threatened thunderstorm at noon never materialised.

There was only the two of us, staying on over Sunday night, the field is otherwise empty:

Today, is just a run up to the coast, to stay at the same site as I used on my first night.

It’s been a good stay at the campsite, better in many ways than ‘Camping 35’ next door. I lucked out, as I had made no reservations for Spa and the race at all. God willing, I’ll be back here next year to see the sheep:

I have.

A month away has done it. Outside of meeting up with the troops at Le Mans for a few days, I’ve actually drunk pretty little on my own, as I am not really a ‘solo drinker’. Bicycling (all be it with electrical power) and it being too hot to eat much beyond a homemade sandwich….

Peanuts, on the other hand. It’s important to keep the salt levels up. Full of fibrous goodness, too….. I think!

:beerjug:
You look amazing now

Tuesday….

It’s my last day. Crossing via the Chunnel and then M20, M25, A1 to north west London and then to home. No great rush as my flexi-ticket is not due until gone 14:00.

Yesterday, someone pinched the dust cap off my spare wheel. My detective like skills, identified where the joint in their finger, wiped away the dust on the wheel rim, as they turned the cap off. It can only have been when I stopped for fuel. I suspect an adult, as the wheel is too high for a child to reach without being lifted.
