Anyone out there ever suffered from a left hand pannier seal seapage?? Standard GSA pannier (left). just wondering if it could be fixed with clear silicon gloop! Mike
Hi Mike
I,ve tried doing that to my right pannier ,i removed the seal and put silicon in the seal grove and then refitted the seal.
That was about a year ago and it is still dry.
The top box from my 06 bike developed a leak,I replaced the seal with an updated item from BMW which appears to be a better design and it's done the job,I'm sure the updated seals are available for the panniers too as the seals on the panniers of my 09 bike are the same design as the updated top box seal I fitted.
Had the same problem. Removed seal, squirt a small amount of silicon all around the empty groove. Replace seal and half close the catch. You can do this to put some pressure on the seal but not put full pressure on the seal until it's cured. Wait 24 hours, fully close seal and job done. I now get a satisfying release of pressure whenever I open the panniers, have sprayed upside down with pressure washer and they are 100% dry. Did this a year ago and no problems since.
