LH throttle cable woes

I recently replaced all throttle cables as they where original and getting a bit threadbare.
Problem is I can get no slack on the LH one.
I have tried removing the lock nut but the adjuster winds down and still has no slack in the cable.
I tried Steptoes trick of holding the quadrant closed and forcing the throttle round to pop the lh outer into the splitter box but no luck.
The main accelerator cable is wound in on its outer sheath.
Could I have one of the famed shorter cables?
The next option is to pull out the splitter box and compare old and new cables, not a task I will enjoy.
Cables and splitter with update recently from MW.

Today I stripped it all down to remove the splitter box, yes I know you don't need to but in my case it was easiest to do that.
The cable was sitting firmly in its socket and was routed properly.
I measured the cables, the outer cable of the new one is 3mm longer than the old one and the new outer is 1mm shorter than the old one but this could be due to stretch as I think it was an original cable with over 135000 kilometres on it.
Would the 3mm difference in outer cable be enough to cause the lh throttle to have no slack?

Thanks

I had exactly the same problem when I replaced the cables a couple of years ago on my 1999 1150 GS . The left one seemed to be too short and I had to set it fully wound down so the left quadrant wasn't being pulled off it's stop. That's the way I've left it, it just means that when balancing the throttle bodies I have only got adjustment on the right hand side, but it all seems to be ok that way.

Well thats a first for me.
The usually exceptional MW could not help, they had a cable that had a 2mm shorter outer but no difference on the inner.
So I took the new cable from MW to the local cable bloke and he will make the inner 8mm longer so that means the new cable will be 3-4mm longer than the old one. Giving me a bit more adjustment.
Fingers crossed when I fit it all will be good.
