Just been out on my 03 GS adventure for the first time in the dark, :eek: the light were pointing about 5ft in front of the bike :(
The adjuster bar is in the right place ie down for no load and I've wound the knob back about 20 turns which makes the dip beam better but doesn't seem to make any difference to the main beam. :nenau
Its still pointing down to the ground in fron of me, not good :nono

Any ideas anyone

You've just found the one and only major fault with the 11xx range....shyte lights.

Brighter bulbs help a little (try a search on them) but the basic problem is the reflectors, not the bulbs.....

99.9% of the rest of us have gone for either HID conversions or fitting aux lights.....try 'Migsel bar' and BTBR lights' in the search box and settle back for a good long read.

Only solution is a light bar and aux lights. I've got Hella FF50's and MicroDe fogs. Lights a F'in brill. Put my tinted light protector back on cause the bikes lights aren't needed now. Best £140 quid I've spent on he bike. Xenons help a bit but no comparison for the hellla or Piaa set ups.

Do a search for HID lights

the main external adjuster should move both the dip and main together.
If you still feel that the main is not positioned correctly you will need to adjust them seperatley from the front of the bike there are two cut outs in the small plastic cover over the clocks.
A word of caution first;
be careful with the adjuster screws they are notoriously soft, and if you do not have the correct fitting screwdriver you will beggar them up very quickly.
I took the screen off mine and cowl and made sure the adjuster threads were clean and lubed up before adjusting.
Considering how much adjustment you have already made i would take the bike to your local shop with the correct alignment kit and and have re-set to the MOT standard.
After which you should be able to 'fine tune' the adjustment, make many and small adjustments ,dont aim too high to cause other road users hassle

:eek:
