Looking for a new PC

Lot of info - thanks :thumb2

Know of anywhere that would sell similar all ready made?

Try www.scan.uk
I buy a lot of top end kit off them and they know their stuff so worth a peep. Nice to deal with.

Nice thing to do yourself though. If you want to give it a go there will be loads of advice on here if you ask

:beerjug:

I had several MESH PCs in a row.....always pretty good value and good for reliabilty.....In fact I still have several parts from at least one of them in the machine I'm on now :beerjug:

The other budget but quality brand I've used a few times is MEDION

I don't know if they still do them, but they used to be sold through Aldi :D
(I also have three Medion external hard drives sitting quietly on my desk here still performing well after at least 7 or 8 years)

I bought the first two MESH Pcs through Tesco :blast

Aldi and Tesco....both huge buyers.....My logic is that if they go to a company like MESH or MEDION and are able to buy 20 thousand PCs, they will get a rather large discount or a much better spec for the money, so why not tag on to that :augie

Ignore any software packages that are 'free' or 'bundled with'.......go for bang for bucks, an up to date MoBo that will accept the latest Gphx cars and offer as much RAM space as possible for the future.......Personally I'd also go for a barebones system with no KB, Mouse or Monitor, Or in fact an OS, but that's just me :thumb2

Yep, and you'll never need to buy another PC for years.

In the days when I was forced to use Windows I changed machine every year, sometimes more frequently than that. My current MacPro is now 7 years old and I still have absolutely no inclination to change it.

Like the old adage, "No such thing as cheap shoes"

Have MacPro's from 2005 & 2007, an iMac from 2002 and a MacBook from 2009. and no, none need replacing. But in terms of value for money, none of them can compete with my Rasberry Pi - 6 months old and my 8 year old can program in Python ;) (as opposed to hanging out in Penguin Club with his 12 year old cousin).
