Hi,
Can anyone help? I'm left with the task of finding a route through France from Santander to Calis for four blokes( 1200gs zx12r ,Fireblade and 1200 daytona) We escape from wives kids girlfriends on Sept every year for a week.In the past we've been to Orkney( to visit Twatt for the photo next to the rd sign)and a couple of mad blatts to southern france and northern spain, both done in a day.
This year we are taking the easy route down by taking the ferry
What we want from the trip is..

1) Little or no Traffic
2) No auto routes
3) Good food and accomodation
4) Not to come back after a night out and find that some little f*** ba*** has tryed to nick my bike!

Any good b+bs would also be helpful as we book nothing but the ferry before we go, adds to the fun.

Many Thanks Dave Guest

Easy

It couldn't be easier. By yourself a Michelin route of France. Look at all of the routes marked in green (the scenic ones). Join some up and away you go.

I came back from Switzerland that way in May and the roads were great.

Happy hunting.

As long as you don't overnight in a large city your bikes should be fine. Also lots of hotels will allow you to park under cover, although some (IBIS etc.) charge. FWIW I've never had any trouble in France.

Thanks for the info,
ferry booked we're on our way!
I think your right about avoiding large towns The route will be more up the west coast of France just cos we havent been there.

Just a quick after thought ,it was in Be'ziers just south of Monpellier, outside a B+B in the town, where someone tried to nick my GS. The bike was parked by my down stairs room about 8ft from my bed. The gits left my friends unlocked ZXR,Blade and Daytona and tried to hacksaw through a abus disc lock.
Goes to show that french thieves have taste.
