no Rights of Way

We have NO Rights of way or any legal place to ride , that is why we go to Wales, you Dont know how lucky you are in the UK, over here it is a no go area for trail riding ..... any thing we do is illegal. and we pay extra vehicle taxes for the previlidge (VRT)

I had no idea, but then I dont really understand why we do other than I believe a lot of them are old drovers trails, routes that have always been there. No I guess I didnt realise how lucky we are to have whats left

It'd be crazy though if there couldnt be some provision made for you guys, it's not like you have the population density we have here and there have got to be the same kind of tracks and routes about...

We have a similar problem here though with MXers using bits of land and tracks shame they cant be made to see sense before we all loose access to some of these places...

but the big problem is that motorcyclists in general are loners and dont like to be herded , so anyone with a bike or quad just does their own thing and we all get tarred with the same brush ....
and in our youth we did the same , and it is a bit rich for me to go complaining about their enjoying the freedom that bikes bring,
but we still have no legal access here, and my trail riding only happens when we organise a enduro etc

Time that we got an action pressure group together for trail riders to talk with Coillte. They made provision for mountain bikers, some of whom are as dangerous on the trails as our hooligan fringe.

I heard a while ago that Coillte were considering just such a thing, a large area where several different disciplines (trails, trials, mx) could have access. They'd even gone so far as to consult one or two in the industry. But I don't think it progressed much past that. We live in hope

Don't do it you will draw too much attention to yourself in the forestery up the road from you , get a stealth bike ie something quiet , a good starter bike is a KDX 200 if you can find one and simple to maintain if you want to trail ride maybe a serrow or xR250

The main problem is that there is very little, if any, common land in Ireland. It's all either private farmland or belong to semi-state bodies like Coillte. I'm failrly lucky in that i have a few acres of grass to act the maggot on - it belongs to my M-in-law, and the local farmer is a decent sort who would have no problem letting me loose on his land, as long as i close gates etc.

Here's my Friday schedule. Take childeen to school. Mrs punishment works till early afternoon on fridays. Attend my German language lesson at elf uhr ( 11 ). Call to see a pair of highly recommended Serow's on way home. Go home for lunch. Collect aforementioned childeen from school and take her to her girl guides meeting at 3. The rest of the day is then my own except for this friday as i have to go and collect a PVC window for our porch.

Your plan sounds better, but it's not to be unfortunately.
