The dash on my 2014 model came up with a low oil warning about 10 minutes into my ride yesterday.

Pulled over and checked the oil level and it was full. Started it up again and message went and didn't return for the rest of the ride.

Is this normal or do I have a sensor failing?

The position of the sensor does lend itself to false readings when the bike is facing downhill.

I had a faulty sensor which eventually started throwing the "OILLVL CHECK" message every time I stopped the bike; t'was replaced under warranty with no hassle :)

As long as there's oil in the glass you can keep on riding - even the manual says you should just check next time you stop for fuel, rather than stop immediately. Fear of a mangled engine usually takes over before then though :P

Hex has both and oil temperature so LC unlikely to step backwards.

On my Hex I don't have the oil temp and the oil level doesn't work on the move. Is my bike missing something. TC TB.
