Inspired by recent threads, I decided to apply the old adage "if it ain't boke, fix it until it is! and measured my TPS voltage on my bike that runs perfectly well.

I find that the voltage is just 0.025v - miles below where it should be.

The bike ticks over smoothly at 1,000rpm and picks up cleanly.

I thought I'd see what it's like with the proper voltage, so a twistled the pot only to find that I couldn't get above about 200mV. So I guess that the throttle stop is a bit low.

I put the TPS back where it was and, of course, the bike is fine.

But what gives?

after scratching my head a bit, i can only think that either the throttle stop is in the wrong position or your multi meter is reading low. bad connection?

if you still have the factory paint on the throttle stops, i doubt it's that.

My DVM reads OK on a new torch battery, but it may lose accuracy at very low voltages. I'll borrow another meter and try again.

I got some funny readings until I connected the black lead to the battery earth instead of the footrest hanger. Mine had 320mV from the factory and ran weak/woolly until I reset it to 380mV. Which pin are you measuring from?

I wedge the meter probe into the sidestand spring for a good earth.

works for me.

i'm currently experimenting between 0.320 and 0.395 to see what gives my particular bike the best characteristics for me at this altitude.

I have a beige CCP, but don't seem to get any difference if its removed.

Also got open laser can, no lambda and CO pot

I also decided to do that - I now have a hole in my thumb after I slipped and skewered myself!

:mmmm

Meter calibration?

I recently had my trusty multimeter calibration checked, and it was 20% out at low voltages (up to 500mv!) but fine everywhere else!!!

I was under the impression that the TPS voltage adjustment was only meant to be done on the 1100 NOT the 1150.

I could be wrong though:duck:

i think you're wrong too.

you're not supposed to mess with the throttle stops though. i understand these are set on a flowbench at the factory.

due to techlusion giving me some duff info, i did & they're fairly easy to reset.

just a different base voltage, i think.

I could be wrong though :D

Please tell how you did this?.

Manual for GS says butterflies should be at 15 degrees from shut. If this is the same setting as the bench flow setting at BMW what is the Voltage reading at the TPS. The zero zero settings mentioned in other articles seems to be on RS models which have a 10 Degree opening. Therefore zero to 10 degress gives X reading on a voltmeter whereas 15 degress would be zero X plus another 5 Degrees maybe.
What about the brass bypass screws - how many turns out should they be?
