I think vines Motorrad Redhill have a fair amount of panniers for the WC GS so might be worth calling them?

As for alternative option I have just brought a set of givi trekker pannier (for my 650gs) and are very happy with them.

I picked up my new LC from Vines Guildford yesterday (racing red and wire wheels) no panniers but did get topbox . Was told new stock coming in every day , hope so as off to the Tour de France on Friday!

If you made it clear that this was a deal breaker and dealer agreed, yes you can. Dealer may be miffed and you may struggle to get your deposit back though. Being right isn't necessarily the same as getting your deposit back easily. Fairly drastic step and as others have said, get the boxes beforehand if it's crucial.

I don't understand why you don't just buy them yourself, and get them to take the cost off the final invoice before you pick the bike up. And if you've negotiated them into the deal, get them to apply the discount to something else on the bike.

Yes your correct I think that's why there's a back log with panniers not fitting

There was a balls up with mine when I ordered, after 8 weeks they weren't there, as the sales guy was on holiday I included his director on a mail I sent stating I was taking the bike away in 10 days.... the panniers arrived in a couple of days.

Maybe just luck or some other poor Sap is now waiting

Oh and they fitted first time! Guess I was just Double lucky that week

Unfortunately I don't have the spare time to sort this out, plus I am not wasting the good weather when I do have some time.

This is what I pay my money for, premium product I expect premium service. As this is my 6th bike from the dealer since 2005 I would expect them to make an effort

One bmw dealer in the uk could probably arrange to get the panniers form another bmw dealer in Irl in 24 to 48 hours. let that aspect be your dealer's issue to sort out.

I cannot see how there would be any fitment issues more than they would be if they came from who ever makes them for BMW.

I never saw them or tried to fit them myself.

I am managing fine with my (just!) 52 litre trekker top box.

That's fair enough, and you're right, the dealer should make the effort and sort them. But, in your original post, you are prepared to cancel the order for the bike if they don't arrive in time, as you have a big trip planned. If it was me, I would buy the panniers elsewhere and get the dealer supplying the bike to take the cost off the invoice.

Ian m, I think Wayne talks a lot of bo11ox when I asked if there were issues with items on back order he told me every bike they have sold as come thro with all the parts fitted and they have no issues with not getting items ie panniers.

I would not hold your breath for a call back there fecking useless at piddys to say its gone down hill is a understatement, its a sinking ship and the fooking staff are clueless, and I feel for Chris employing igiots .

Exactly. Of all the bikes sold with luggage (thousands), I've heard of about a dozen instances of them not fitting properly.

That statement was because they have been warned and they know how long they have, so they have plenty of time to get it sorted

I haven't even got a definite date yet other than it should be built week 32. I will tell them again when they give me a date and see what happens

Fair enough. Vines are normally pretty good (Guildford, that is), so they should see you right. Worst case, I'm sure someone on here could lend you theirs for the trip, in exchange for some duty free.

Alternative Luggage

I, Like Karlp was unhappy with the Vario panniers, so went for an alternative. I didn't want scaffolding all over the bike when the panniers were off, So I went for the Trax Alu boxes.
They take approx 10secs to fit/remove and you can barely see their fixing points. Approx £700 and in stock at Bykbitz.
