Ok just attempted to change the oil on my 2007 GS 1200 the old filter was a Hi Flo that unscrewed fine the Mahle filter goes on like half a turn and then won't go any further certainly don't want to force it, first time in 35 years doing my own oil changes on every kinda vehicle I have ever experienced this, any thoughts??? The old filter screws on just fine btw

Thanks

Iain

I had a similar experience on a 1200 LC. Just check the condition of the start of the thread on the filter and use a needle file as necessary.

Is the thread title a typo? The correct filter is an OC306 and in my experience they fit without difficulty. From your description it sounds like your trying to fit a filter with the wrong thread.

I've had a couple of Mahle filters where the threads have been fecked. .

But that's over 33 years of using them for the old K series, 1100/1150 and 1200 bikes.

If you count just one service a week that averages over 1700 filters, but more realistically i'd guess at way over 5k filters used in that time..... which is not a bad quality control rate.

Many years ago I sold nippon denso spark plugs to motor factors by the 1000. Never got one back. For any reason. I’d say 50,000 a month. JJH

Yes the seal is still on the old filter, it's the threads that don't match up I have ordered a Ho Flo Filtro filter same as the one that came off whoch will be here friday hope that fits, the old filter was on way way tight, threads on the filter housing look fine just won't accept the mahle filter.

Got the new Hi Flo Filtro filter today, screwed straight on, thanks for your help
