Hi Guys,
There were some questions regarding the dials of my R1200GS so I though I open up another fred
I didn’t buy the dials, I made them myself.
All you need is an old plastic folder (or a see-through thin plastic), a scanner, corel draw and someone who can print on professional vinyl (every signwriter today has a digital printer, it wouldn’t cost the world) I happen to have a signwriter in the family where I printed my dials.
Here are some previous designs I made up:
On my page in the bmw diary there is an entry from the 13. April 2009. It shows how I made them… here are some of the photos.
All the best & good luck

…I really like this one...can you provide some info on this? how difficult is to do it? where you bought it? (I mean the white colour on the dash..)

- You scan the originals to have the size,
- Then using Corel Draw outline them. Speak to the signwriter, there are certain colors you can use where this vinyl printer can actually cut along. This way you can control what will be cut and what not.
- Create your design, everything is possible. The camo below is just printed on white vinyl.
- Once you got the design, make a copy of it and create one the determains the light-block layer (in the pics below you see the design layer and a black light block layer).
- Once you got these done, go to your signwriter and get them printed.
- With the printerouts in hand, stick them with soapy water on the see-through plastic of a folder and cut it carefully. Make sure the light-block layer sits in the right spot…
- At the end cover the sides of the needles otherwise they’d light up the whole thing

Is it a big / complex job removing the speedo's & replacing etc? Any issues with seals etc? Really like the idea of white clocks - and also having mph indicated as well if riding in the UK etc.
