Simple question really.

If I load a set of maps for a route abroad to my Quest will the maps that are already on the unit be removed.

Mapsource will pick the maps required to go with a route you've plotted. I've done this and would like to load them but I don't want to loose the rest of the UK not associated with the route.

:)

Yep. My understanding is that whenever you load MAPS, you'll overwrite whatever's already on the card. The solution is to load a ROUTE (assuming it's covered by the maps already on the card). Failing that, load your route, together with ALL the maps you want on the card.

Did that make sense?

Mike:)

It wiped the existing maps on my Navigator II - what I found is that any existing routes still on there when "previewed" just showed a map of Europe rather than the actual route area.
What I now do for routes I upload is to preview them to make sure they look ok i.e. I have uploaded any maps that go with them.

Yep that all makes sense, I'll need to load all the maps I want on the unit, even those not on the route if I want them to be on the unit for future use.

Thanks chaps. :)

Don't know about the "Quest", but from the above posts it uses a card for the mapping?
Yes, every time you send new mapping to the card it will over write anything previously contained on that card. However, it will not affect the "base map" contained on the Quest unit itself which is permanent and can only be altered by Garmin during a service of the unit. I'm assuming it has a base map.
