Guys,

I have a StreetPilot 111.:eek

I have formatted my computer and brought it back to "Factory Condition".:clap

Okay, so far.,, Time to re-install software. Got to doing Mapsource and noticed my discs are "Updates".,, I DO have version 7, 8 and 9 of the software.:thumb

My Question,, Do I really have to input 3 discs of version 7 then 8 and then 9?? Will I have any trouble with Garmin?:o Do I need to remember the codes?:nenau

Any help appreciated.

Pat

just install the first full version, then the last update.

i then delete the early version in control panel.

you'll need the codes for all versions installed.

You can do a new install from an update DVD by exploring the disk and then execute the CN.msi file ;)....no need for any previous version to be on the PC. That does it in english,If you need it in another language just use that languages Msi .exe file

Guys,:hug

You are fantastic.:beerjug:

I will try your suggestions later. Must go and find the codes tho. I know the original one is in the box but can't remember where the heck the others are.:blast

Thanks again.

Feel free to write again if I misread the answers.

Just to keep you updated (no pun intended).

I tried as Navig8r recommended but couldn't do it. I went back to version 7 and for some reason it didn't want to load.

I then thought I would go to version 8 but had put in version 9 in my DVD Drive.I let it auto run and noticed 2 options, ,,,"Update usb drivers for 26xx" (or something like that). The other option was to" install maps to PC.". Guess which one I chose.:P

Then I went to myGarmin and asked for my unlock codes to be loaded up after getting another Pasword.(I had forgotten it)

All seems okay. Guess I won't really know 'til I transfer maps to unit or even .gbd files as found on this site.

Thanks again guys.

Don't know about this but GarminTechSupp explained it to me that the updates don't include the Mapsource base program so you need to install a full original version first then the update.
Dear Sir

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe

You are able to do this but you need to make sure that you have a full version of mapsource installed or the version 8 update won't be able to work.

Howard.

Thanks for your input on this .

As mentioned above I have installed maps from DVD version 9 straight to computer and unlocked them.

Thanks again

Not sure why it would not work for you because I have within the last 1.5 hours put a larger HDD in an old lappy and installed CN Europe v9(Update DVD) for a Nuvi with this method ... I placed DVD in drive, ignored all the installation option but left it running . Then on the lappy....Start/My Computor/right click on the DVD drive/explore/execute CN windows installer file and away it went .The only thing that seemed to be missing was the Usb driver but I sorted that with trip and waypoint manager.I then installed the unlock codes which were saved to file in usb pen, connected my 60csx and it found it straight away.

Who knows the ins and outs of DVD's.??:nenau

All I know is it didn't want to work as you suggested and I have full maps on my computer from my version 9 update disc.:clap

Thanks for your interest tho,:thumb

Be Safe.:roll
