MapSource v9

Have a look at THIS THREAD which came out when Version 7 was due to be released. It's a long one, but I found loads of useful stuff in it, and most of the questions will apply to Version 9 as well. :thumb

:nenau im waiting (today Thursday) for my 2720 to arrive, now, will it have V8 or V9, when is V9 out. what is the difference? why not wait until V10 or V11.
If you have plans for Poland, Ireland, Spain or Portugal you want V9. If not, you can wait until V10.

Makes no difference whether it's pre-installed or not, you still don't have to register to unlock the maps - the code is in the box.
Good point, I was maybe thinking of the upgrade process. Doesn't the initial unlock process try to go online as you register though, I can't quite recall...

Ho hum... City Navigator Europe V8 seems to have been removed from the Garmin map updates page..
A sign of things to come? :nenau

My Mapsource popped up a window last night saying my maps (CN 8) were over a year old, and I should consider upgrading...

I think the key word is "try" but there is an option to register later. Can't remember the exact wording, but it is there. :thumb

I spoke to Garmin UK yesterday and they said to expect the V9 discs for Europe to ship in the 1st quarter of 2007.

The new Zumo, however, which should hit the dealers mid November will have V9 Europe pre-installed.

There appear to be lots of confirmations that v9 is out in one format or another (GPSIreland.ie message board thread has someone saying they have it on a 660, and that the Irish coverage is very good). I've also seen links where you can buy it on SD cards  already. :nenau
