This forum really is odd. I don't understand why so many BMW haters regularly contribute their "anti" ramblings.
If you really don't like them that much - specifically the WC versions, why are you avidly reading the latest postings? Ridiculous.

If you only love orange bikes then it makes sense to cease getting wound up on a predominantly BMW GS forum & spend your time on a KTM one.

I own both a BMW & a KTM, the bikes are completely different as my KTM is an Enduro bike, (but have had the 990 adventure) & in my opinion, both are perfect for me. Why the need for the childish "my bike is better than yours" shenanigans?

Surely each of ride the bike we choose to, it doesn't make anyone better or worse than their fellow rider, just different tastes. Some of you are weird, not entertaining, not humorous, just weird.

Loved my KTM 950 Adv back in the day but the new 1290 just leaves me cold. Perhaps it’s the excruciating ugly headlight or maybe the bloated V Strom looks.

Just watched Teapotone’s review of the 1290 on YouTube and he mentions the high speed instability... didn’t know they did that? Also the heavy discounts being offered on new 1290s doesn’t sound too clever either.

More than happy with my lovely 1200 Rallye at the moment.

The 1290 left me a bit cold too . That’s why I sold it .

But some on here get very defensive about owning a GS. Why ?
I like my GSs but there are other bikes/brands out there if you open your eyes .

KTMs strength is surely their brilliant much smaller off road/green lane offerings, the bigger bikes are a matter of personal preference, just not mine.

Read this if you can it really gives the best description of the two bikes on a real world test and backs up what I have always said about the gs 1250 , both great bikes but ...

Now getting back to the original post , I was only pointing out the article and also , to my defence , I also said that both bikes are great , its a shame that some feel to make more of the original post .
Sure the BM is good , but also the Ktm , its just the fact that so many say with all that power the ktm is better , its not .
A real world test not a comparison of figures will only give a true picture of the reality not the dream.
I love my 1250 , and also appreciate the difference the two bikes have , but come on Orange boys the new 1250 is fookin good.....

Wanted to like the 1290 super adventure but was the same, despite an obvious bit of extra beef from the engine , was something emotional missing for me it, had a funny engine thrum too.

Mega Happy with my red 1200 GSA with tft screen. I even think it looks good.
