Got home from the sunday spin out with the lads and noticed the stitching on the collar is undone and the two parts are falling apart, now the jacket is less than two years old so well within the 5 years but i can not find the receipt!.:blast....Question do any of you know where to get it repaired properly? and i am expecting to pay for it as i've lost the receipt.

Any idears:bow

Graham, when I needed a repair carried out to a pair of BMW textile trousers I ust went to a local seamstress for an inspection. When she saw the construction she took on the job as she was confident her machine could handle the materials and she did a very good job. :thumb So try your local yellow pages first.

if the jacket design is less than the 5 years old then it can't be older than the guarantee period... you might be able to get them to repair it with that in mind

I don't get this 5 years guarantee ..

Does this count as fraud?

Receipts printed out by the retailer uses thermal printing technology on that smooth paper. The MAXIMUM life span of the ink is probably 2 years (don't ask how I know .. just know that I don't like throwing things away :D )

So .. you could NEVER actually provide a receipt that shows the purchase after year 2. WHAT THEN? Would they accept the fully faded thermal print out?

What are your rights as a consumer on that one?

Also if you said that to the shop assistant, given he/she is on minimum wage they just wouldn't want to know.

So why pay £1700 for a Rukka suit?

Why not buy ones that last only one year .. and buy a new one every year?

No need to deal with retail workers who wants to be actors? :nenau

The D ring on my Rukka trousers broke a couple of months ago - I emailed Rukka, and got an answer from Transam saying "please return the trousers, with proof of purchase, to the dealer who you bought them from. The dealer will arrange to lend you a similar item while yours are away".

As I bought the trousers from Louis.de I ended up buying the D rings from Transam, and getting a local seamstress, as Lord Snoopy suggested, to do the bis.

Cheers,

Neil.

If you paid by card then use the card/bank statement as proof.

Good idea .. BUT

1. How many people keep 5 year old credit card slips or statements?
2. credit card slips will fade just like the receipt

If an importer really wants to help the customer, there should be a simple registration scheme. Like when you register your garmin GPS.

This way it makes sense for the importer as it reduce possible claims. So 1000 purchases .. reduce to a possible population of say 100.

1) i do. my CDs are alphabetised too :D

2) the statements don't fade. i could probably download a new one from visa anyway.

Any half decent seamstress could sow that up, I'm sure. It's not structural, after all.

If you get stuck, Hideout Leathers are excellent. They sell Rukka but, above all, they can sow.

Dead right -Hideout will repair anything -doesn't even have to be motorbike gear -they fixed my non-bike leather jacket just fine. Some nice lanes around there too, and then there's Kate ....well worth the trip !!!:D

Just don't expect a quick turn around with Infinity :augie

Although perhaps the prospect of getting a new one (eventually) may sway you ;)

Bummer. Mine has the velcro coming adrift on the cuff. It is still waterproof and the Barry Sheene signature that it came with is just as bright as the day I bought it in 1977!

Rukka repairs

Do a Google search for 9 lives leathers in North Camp Hampshire.
I have used them before and they are also accredited Rukka repairers

ME RUKKA'S KNACKERED UPDATE!!!

Have been on to Rukka and they will not repair jacket with out a reciept, they are asking £90 incl p&p:confused:

I have had a expert look at it, It is a garment fault as the seam is so tight on material it has just pulled away:nenau

Not happy with Rukka:mcgun

That's a shame...

I still wear a Rukka Jacket I bought in 2001. I had a tatty collar repaired under the 5 year Warranty when it was about 18 months old. The Receipt and the Warranty booklet were needed and Infinity (Holborn) were the supplying dealer. Getting a bit worn now so I might get an Try an Aerostitch one piece next.

I've still got Motomodd/Iota Jackets and trousers boxed up in the loft. I wore these when I was Despatching years ago. Warm and comfortable but not armoured. Far to good to bin.
