Ianran,

according to your profile you have an 1150, is that correct ?
If so this why I was confused, because this thread is in the 1200 section.

If not you must just be an odd shape

Do you know how much taller the R1200GSA screen is? I was looking at it today and the mount seems compatible.

Guys - The NN tinted wide screen is close to the style I want (but still too big) I want a tinted 'summer' screen not too big but stylish without the angular 12GS look I hate - So anyone recommend a small screen...

Changing screens

Some people seem to have continual trouble with the standard screen and I don't - nor am I am to simulate the problem by crouching, sitting higher etc; the screen is set more or less in the middle and I am just over 6' talll. I cannot find any real turbulence untill I approach the 100 mph mark & at that speed the pillion passenger is OK as wel - but worried about radars etc;!
Did I read somewhere that the fitiing of a tank bag can reduce/eliminate turbulence by filling the space? I always have a bag in place - I will have to carry out a test, with & without ---or perhaps somebody already has? It is a bit chilly at high speed here in january. Brian in France

1200GS Screens

I al just over 6' tall and have no problem at speeds way in excess of the limit with my standard screen (nor did I have any problem with that on my previous 1150GS.) I always carry a tank bag and it has been suggested ( on this forum?) that this can cut down on turbulence by filling the gap. I wrote something similar either on the GSer forum or the BMW Club forum recently. Please excuse me if you have already read my views - but it is worth a try before buying a new screen.

Just fitted a Givi screen from Motorworks to my GS12, first run today and all seems well. Very good quality and £84 + postage seems a reasonable price to pay.

Any pictures or link to a site with pictures ?

Ive just fitted the secdem screen from nippys.
Its the one thats a little taller and a littel wider.
Im 6'0" tall and have the seat on the lower of the two settings.

Im using it on the low setting and its definetly made a big difference, much less buffeting and a much comfier ride. Not perfect but who wants that anyway. Ive just come back from a nice 100mile round trip with the visor up for most of the way.

well worth the money and recommended.

just thought it was worth a post to let you folks know.

Hi, i'm 6 foot tall , seat on lower setting

I've been playing with the angles of the givi screen, and have ridden about 6 to 800 miles with it on the 12gs

lots of buffetting to the top of my lid, if i duck down about 4-6 inches then all is calm at about 90mph, just uncomfortable over a distance . Now thats with the screen angled about halfway back

with the screen fully forward/upright. the bike seems to feel held back around 90mph - aerodynamics of a brick

certainly much wider and taller than the origional & looks ok - see the link above, i think this will definitely keep the bugs off my jacket/visor this summer

just about to fit tobinators to see if they help

regards

Hey Franky, How did you get an mra vario like that? I've just ordered one from HPS and I'm sure it's just got the small aerofoil on it, not the big slidey uppy thing like yours. Any reports, or pics?
