Michelin Pilot Road 4 - Press Release

On order for fitment next Sat (UK)

I rang around a few places that said they weren't available to order yet and one even mentioned Anakee 3's were on back-order if I wanted those instead. You can order PR4's in a lot of 17 sizes on Ebay but there's hardly any trail sizes available so there's defo some supply issues out there. However, Mitcheldever are obviously in bed with the devil (or maybe they have early access - I know they fit a LOT of tyres) & say they'll take 3 days to get them in so I'll scoot over next weekend to get them fitted. Ace-1-bananna. The Anakee 3's currently fitted have very little left in them so perfect timing as far as I'm concerned.

They aren't cheap at £282 fitted and yes I could keep Anakee/Tourance/Trail Attacks to save some money and they'll cope with everything I throw at them, but after going to road tyres a few GS's back and living with less road noise and overall a better feel for my riding it's money well spent. If the PR4's hadn't still been available I'd probably would have gone for the Roadsmarts (1's not 2's) which I might try again when the PR4's are thru with as they were very good on my last GS (I think Plod tend to use them on the RT1200 road bikes).

I thank you.

Denied!

Mitcheldever called today to say they made a mistake .. backorder with no delivery date so the same as everyone else. :blast

Back to square one as the Roadsmart doesn't look available yet either.

roadsmart1 not available for the new lc but the roadsmart2 is available now,had mine fitted Friday gone and the best wkend riding with decent rubber since I got the lc over 10,000miles ago

pr3 it is then

Don't think any PR3 Trail made in the size required for the LC, I am waiting it out for PR4 from Micheldever or Russ Tyres whoever gets them first.

Anakee 3 is on a 3 week back order, not so sure that's great considering its a new model and parts aren't readily available.

Protyre Gloucester (owned by Micheldever) told me that PR3 Trail are no longer available but they can order the new PR4 so I have requested a rear to go with my part worn front PR3. 48 delivery time so let's see if they have it in stock for me to have on Friday.

That's interesting, I am about to order a new rear tyre for the start of the season, doing that soon because I will be in the UK for most of March and the first week of April and want the tyre ready for fitting as soon as I get back here. I have PR3s fitted (non trail rear) and have been delighted with them. Hopefully the 4 will be even better. I will find out what the position is here.

lucky for me mine is the obsolete hexhead gsa
going to hold out till the rush for "new" tyres is over
had no issues with the exps but started to white line at 4500

Supplied & fitted this AM by Protyre, Gloucester for £140 as promised.

Water dispersion seems quite efficient after the ride home in biblical rain. At least the salt from last weekend should be washed off now.

That seems a good price for a PR4! Keep us informed on your thoughts on it.

the outgoing PR3 did 6750 miles with a little to spare and the PR4 is supposedly 20% more durable so pushing 9k will be good

Russ's tyres locally here reckons they aren't making them in Trail trim. Says he spoke to Michelin today.

Anhyhoos, I'm close to the wire and settling for Roadsmart 2's that are on order. I'll be interested in how everyone gets on with the PR4 though.

HI DID THEY HAVE THEM IN STOCK ? THIS IS FOR REAR ONLY ?

Not in stock but Protyre got the rear tyre direct from Michelin within 48 hours - http://www.protyre.co.uk/ has branches in many locations in England & Wales. Seems to work fine with my part worn PR3 front tyre.

Russ is talking through his arse. There is a PR4 Trail attached to the rear wheel of my S10 - check the manufacturer's website

"Available in 3 versions: Standard, GT & Trail."
