Welcome to UKGSer Mick ... from another Mick :thumby:

I'm sure people will come along shortly with advice for you. Have you asked Steptoe?

:beerjug:

Are you taking the Mick?

I'm not sure on the steptoe mod but I would certainly suggest that you look at fueling if you're running a y-piece and can. The 1150 is known to run lean as standard.

Options:

Techlusion
Power Commander
John's Chip
BB Chip
Hilltop remap

Plus at least a couple of others.

I've previously used a Techlusion TFI followed by a Power Commander followed by my current Hilltop Remap.

A quick search will provide hours of reading!!

Good luck:thumby:

Cheers guys thinking of putting the
Standard can back on for some back pressure
And less noise .

Every time I read 'Steptoes Mod'

Reminds me of 'Einsteins Theory of General Relativity'

I run a perfectly healthy 1150 Adv with a Remus on it...Steptoe serviced her and didn't say anything about running lean. he set it up and she ticks over perfectly, then runs happily with good fuel consumption, if anything a little bit more expensive per tank than the standard exhaust, but only about 30 miles.

You want to shift the Remus? I am looking for one for my number 2 bike.

Thanks King rat good info .
Going to do valve clearance and
Balancing at weekend
Will run it checking plugs and see
How it goes .
Had the bike 2 month I am loving it
Great bikes .

It's very very simple. Try it and see.
It may make an improvement, it may not. But it's completely free to try, takes a few seconds to fit two spade ends and won't do any harm .

Whether the steptoe mod, which is installing a jumper from 30-87a in place of your no-coding-plug (which is actually just code 0), will do anything depends on what it selects in your Motronic. Here is a link to a partial list: http://ukgser.com/forums/showthread...lugs-Decoded?p=4110787&viewfull=1#post4110787. Most likely in your bike selecting 30-87a (beige plug), will tell your bike it's a Japan 1150 GS but you need to read the Motronic with a GS-911 to know.

On an R1150, changing coding plugs generally does little or makes your bike run worse. But as steptoe says, it's free to try.

On your list, the mod that will leave the Motronic fully in charge but running better is the Power Comander III USB with Wideband O2. Set the fueling map to all zeros (no fuel added or removed) and set the Wideband O2 to either 13.8:1 or 13.5:1. This will shift your fueling from its present lean 14.7:1 to 6-8% richer and closer to best power mixture.

The AF-XIED will do the same job at half the price, in a much more waterproofed package and without interrupting the TPS cable, right injector cable or requiring the installation of a new Wideband O2 sensor in the exhaust, as the PC III does.

Who supplies these here in the UK please?
