Broke my bumble bee down yesterday ,shopping list is gettin scary,some wee surprises all the same ,bad oil leak at paralever seems to be ticked off right away as the bike had a new box fitted by bmw by the previous owner ,and guess what they did not fill the v hole at the top of the rear seal ,so the oil has pissed into the para housing ,(thanks Voyager). Must have emptied a half pint or more out the para houseing.Got a fancy diode pak replacement also fitted ,bad leak at the front of engine seems to be the seal behind the rotor but was wondering if anyone has had any bother with the bean can O ring ,keep you posted as I progress Is it not great fun breaking a bike down .

Yes, there is an o-ring in a groove on the cam side of the beancan. It can leak there. Easy to replace.

Gonna take care of the things that need attention and clean and tidy it up a little .Bikes a good runner could do with a set of headers and a collector box ,gaiters ,O/S side panel,not going to touch the paintwork for the moment,maybe next year ,gonna make it a ongoing resto as I ride it .Ill concentrate on the frame and fittings ,wheels are a little rough but they will do for the moment .Its my one and only bike at the moment so want it back on the road.

Good to see this thread as I have the identical bike, it doesn't need a rebuild yet but one day it may and this stuff is interesting regardless.

Think I found my major engine oil leak,noticed the alternator was full of oil and crap so looks like the rotor seal in the timeing chain cover but unfortnately I think its been caused by corrosion on the rotor were the seal lip sits .Its rough to the touch and must be ripping the seal (I think).so it looks like a new rotor on the shopping list, anybody else come across this problem before

used/pattern rotors are relatively inexpensive fortunately, and the seal is also easy enough to replace

I've just swapped out a working rotor on my 100/7 for a similar issue.

Bought this lower front mudgaurd off fleabay advertised as a pd one but holes in my fork brace are a mile out ,is it off a r100r or does the pd differ from the 88 bumblebee,or is i just a matter of drilling new holes and filling the old ones before paint ,

That's a low mudguard, standard fitting on post 1990 GS's, including the PD.

You need the matching fork brace to go with the mudguard. It differs slightly from the earlier one by having the holes for the low mudguard.

Part number 31422312119 on the 90 onwards machines
Part number 31421452517 on the Pre 90 machines

Right Rob ,so it needs the correct fork brace to let you use the mudgaurd I get it now.Ill l see if I can pick one up if not Ill make something up .Any one got one by any chance.Also looking for a nice set of headers,a y piece,o/s sidepanel.

Thanks rob checked out the oem site and could not see one.That pic is exactly what I need and had in my head ,at nearly £50 I might make something up myself cheers
