i am changing the front pads on my 1150 and i have another problem. i have managed to do the left side but the right is the problem all the pistons move freely but i cannot get them all in at the same time.
what am i doing wrong

thanks adam

take some fluid out of the brake reservoir, if too full you will not be able to push all the pistons fully back.:thumb2

Make a wooden wedge, and don't forget to take the master cyclinder cap off and do as Kenny recommends so the fluid doesn't overflow.

After you've done one side pump the brake lever to get the pistons out on the caliper you've just changed, and then do the other side . :D

Or you could put a clear tube on the bleed nipple and release the pressure as you push the pistons in. Watch the tube and tighten the nipple before any air is sucked in. Less chance of spilling from the reservoir.

Do master cylinders have..for want of a better word...a one way valve type thingy so bleeding from the caliper is always advised or am I talking botox...

Unless your master cylinder has a banjo bolt with a bleed nipple then no, go to the caliper, or the brake hose union which is attached to the right hand side of the frame near the headstock. That has a bleed nipple as well.

Do you have a Mate who could help you with this? I'm getting a bit concerned about your safety because I suspect you haven't seen these things before. You can tell me I'm wrong but there seems to be a lot more work here than is normally required for this job.

Please stay in touch and keep asking questions if you have to. :thumb2
We wouldn't want to hear of anything bad happening.

Did you take both sets of pads out at the same time on either side and then refit the left hand pads first? You had no problem, but then fitting the right hand pads by pushing a cylinder in pushes another pistons out, so not being able to fit your pads, or have I totally misunderstood you?
