is there anyway to 'de-deaden' or give the front brake a bit more 'feeling' on a non-ABS GS? anyone tried different pads or hoses or something like that? i have no problem at all with the performance of the brake.

the only down-side to the telelever to the fore o' these ships is that for me at least, the lack of fork dive under braking makes it difficult to determine how close to the edge you are...

I have used the EBC HH pads and found, that for me, they give a much better feel to the brakes than the standard pads. IMHO they give a much better brake overall.

The downside is that they do not have the anti-rattle spring plates, so you will see a bit of wear on the retaining pins after time. Not really a problem, just turn the pins if they show any sign of a grove and they seem to last quite a while. :D

Yep,

EBC HH give a big improvement. There also much kinder to your discs. Mine are showing signs of wear but are still very flat after 30k of HH use.

"feeling"

I'm running a front "Galfer" braided line on an ABS'ed GS which removes some of the "sponginess" from the feel, but I don't reckon it was worth the money. Bugger all improvement, really ...

I've just fitted a set of stainless hoses from HEL (www.h-e-l.co.uk) in Devon. MUCH better feel to the braking. 99 quid for a full set of hoses (with yellow sleeving - naturally) for an 00 model 1150. Excellent service from HEL and very friendly too.
