Having had a good run out last week, around the North Yorkshire Moors................I thought I'd do a bit more, as the forecast was bright and sunny there

Out from home and headed first to the Howardian Hills

(sorry about the date stamps, in the pics)

Under the White Horse and looking out over the Vale of Mowbray, towards the fair city of York underneath stormy skies

This week's alternative choice of steed, my bumblebee GSA amidst the rape

Beautiful colours, now on the turn after flowering

The entrance arch inscription, to Newburgh Priory

A lovely woodland track, shame it's private and on the Hovingham Estate

Onto the Moors proper at Low Mill

Beautiful Farndale

Rosedale, from atop Blakey Ridge

Stone marker post, from a bygone moorland drove route of yesteryear

Lovely view of the Esk, at Egton Bridge

The road ahead....

Looking back to Glaisdale, from the Stape

A grand afternoon out, slightly marred by coming across a serious bike accident near the top of Sutton Bank, on the A170 when a Triumph Bonneville rider and pillion collided and killed 2 deer that leapt out of the woods.
Rider and pillion were thrown off the bike, 200 feet and they were both in a bad way.
It happened only minutes, before I came round the bend and they were been tended too by car drivers that saw it. It was a heartening sight to see the Air Ambulance hovering overhead within 5 minutes and soon down on the road, before the paramedics soon got to work

As motorcyclists we really do owe the Air Ambulance such a debt of gratitude

Nice pics, JB.:thumb

Shame about the accident; the air ambulance can be a lifeline. I still can't believe they aren't government funded. As posted on here, I've raised a few thousand over the years for them.:beerjug:

Lovely pic's JB and quite sobering that I went down Sutton Bank on my convoluted route to Squire's and nearly got hit by bikes overtaking in the opposite direction

:(

Thanks and well done on the fundraising for AA

Glad the Dent surplus is going their way too:clap

Quite scary, isn't it - that's why I keep off the main roads as much as possible

It was quite unbelievable that there were some sports bike riders who insisted on pushing their bikes down the wide grass verge, past the stricken couple (only mere feet away) without a care and not providing any assistance, just so their afternoon ride wasn't inconvenienced in any way......................total and utter wankers:(

Me too. I always aim for the quiet roads.

Some sport bike riders are complete and utter pricks. The further away from them that I can get, the better.

Despite the ending, the rest of the ride was brilliant

NY Moors is a really lovely area, smaller than the Dales and nice to explore for a day:clap

Having just done two 12 hour shifts over the weekend am almost jealous of your trip out JB, tempered by the bike accident news.
Had 2 Yorkshire Air Ambulance into Northern General today, you ought to see the small helipad behind palliative care ward. Really pleased any surplus cash is going them,a most worthy charity indeed.:thumby:

Cheers Andrew, it was a cracking mooch about the Moors

Pleased with the new camera too

Looks a great ride that, and some cracking photos. It's an area I haven't explored much, even though it's more or less on my doorstep. I have done some greenlaning in the car up there, but all far too rocky to take the bike.

Completely agree about the Air Ambulance. We've made them our chosen charity at work - we brewed a beer and sold it to raise money for them :) www.engageinteractive.co.uk/beer
